Hi folks! Welcome back to our weekly recap of The Flash. This week’s episode is named “The Death of Vibe” and we learned a lot of new things on this season’s plots, let’s get right in.

1. Getting to know Cicada

This episode started by solving last episode’s cliffhanger: “Why does Nora knows about Cicada?”, it turns out she knows and fears him because he is the only villain that The Flash did not defeat, neither the Legends of Tomorrow, not even “the League”. (Hey! So the Justice League will exist in the Arrowverse).

We learn that Cicada is “early” in the timeline; somehow, when Nora came back in time, she made the villain “emerge” before his time. That makes her fell guilty of the deaths of last episodes’ villains, but more on that later.

Finally, at the end of the episode we discover his motivation: he is a father named Orlun and his daughter is in some kind of coma at a hospital. I’m guessing that a meta is responsible for her status, and the bad guy is killing them as a revenge, maybe he is giving the life-force of death metas to the child, hoping that she recovers, we’ll see how the story develops.

2. Sherloque Wells

Finally! We met this season’s Harrison Wells, this time he’s a Sherlock Holmes-type detective. At first glimpse, the character is clearly based on Benedict Cumberbatch’s version, Cisco even makes the reference, but, as the episode progresses we discover that although he is, in fact, a good detective, he is also very lazy and deceiving, definitely untrustworthy.

I love this concept of one actor playing alternative versions of a character, it is very interesting to see what they will come up with next time, but it can have bad results. I disliked Sherloque, he is cocky and annoying, well, those are traits that Sherlock Holmes has; but the character is set to be an employee with a debt, and not so much a friend. To me, it seems obvious that he will be around only one season. The good thing is that he does try to redeem himself in the resolution and in the cliffhanger scene, where we discover that maybe Nora has a secret.

3. Nora’s guilt

Speaking of which, this was a good episode for Nora, I like how she’s not a perfect hero, she makes mistakes (and plenty), but she’s learning to cope with the results and even trying to solve her mistakes.

How can you make a character grow after five years being a super hero? Well, event tough Barry still has a lot to learn on his own, the writing staff is also making him a teacher for a new generation.

So, when Nora discovers that David Hersch is not Earth One’s Cicada, just like in another 36 earths, she tries to fix her temporal disruption, but Barry prevents her from making a mistake, instead, she ends up Cisco.

4. RIP Vibe, Cisco’s fate

Of course Cisco wasn’t going to die, Team Flash faked his death to save him from Cicada. This might mean we won’t have as much Vibe action as we could wish for, but this will give him time to recover from both his hands and his broken heart. I am eager to know what happens next.

5. Ralph and Caitlin’s Investigation

After some solo action against a very funny eco-friendly goon and making himself a living meme, Ralph tries to feel better by helping Caitlin with the death of his father.

What seemed like an unfruitful clue, a suicide letter “confirming” his death, turns out to be a major development in the case, Caitlin uses her old periodic table to discover a message: COME FIND ME. So, not only he could be alive, but he has an interesting reason for his disappearance.

BONUS: It seems that Cecile still has the ability to read minds, a week it works and a week it doesn’t, will this turn into a MacGuffin?

And that’s it for this episode, overall, we got a lot of information on all current plots, and a lot of good jokes, what did you think of this episode? Leave your comments below and join us next week for our take on episode 504, “News Flash”.
