To celebrate our “Evolution of Abe Sapien” art contest, which gives every fan with some ambition and a modicum of artistic talent a chance to have their work published in an issue of “Abe Sapien: Dark and Terrible,” as well as take home a complete set of Hellboy Library Editions, we decided to bring in some ringers, to show us how they interpret everyone’s favorite fish-man. We will be posting pieces each day for this entire month, so come join us for 31 Days of Abe!

Art Baltazar is a hero to the folks at Multiversity, especially those of us with kids (shoutouts to Brandon Burpee and Chad Bowers!). “Tiny Titans” was an amazing book, and we are truly bummed to see his most recent DC book, “Superman Family Adventures” go the same route as “Tiny Titans.” However, Art, along with his frequent partner, Franco, has a couple of really cool projects in the works. The first is “The Green Team: Teen Trillionaires” from DC Comics, co-written with Franco with art by Ig Guara, debuting in May. The other is “Aw Yeah Comics” a new (recently Kickstarted) line from Franco and Art that features new characters like “Action Cat” and “Daring Dog” in all ages adventures. They raised enough funds for 12 issues and 2 annuals thus far, which is pretty awesome for fans of good things. They also are the co-owners of a retail shop, surprisingly called Aw Yeah Comics in Skokie, IL. Check out Art’s website, follow him on Twitter (@artbaltazar), and ask me nicely and one day I’ll post the crayon sketches Art did for me at NYCC 2011.
