With the announcement that “East of West” is 2 trades or so away from its ending, today seemed like a good day to talk about the creator-owned work of Jonathan Hickman. “East of West” is by far his longest tenured creator-owned work, but it is far from his only book of note. “The Manhattan Projects,” “The Nightly News,” and “Pax Romana” are on the shortlist for most influential comics of the 21st century thus far, and each Hickman series feels like a puzzle, inviting readers into not just enjoy the story, but dig deeper than they may be used to.
So, which one is your favorite? Vote in our reader poll, and give us your reasoning in the comments!
(Mine is “The Manhattan Projects,” obviously).
