Reader Poll: Which Female Superhero Needs a New Series?

March is Women’s History Month, which started back in 1978 as “Women’s History Week” in Sonoma County, California.  And in comics, 2020 was the year of the woman, with over half of the year’s Eisner winners were women, and the site Women Write About Comics winning the Eisner for Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism. (In the interest of full disclosure, I am also a writer at Women Write About Comics.) And yet, there are still many female superheroes without their own series, a revelation that surprised our staff when they compiled this list.

In order to keep this list manageable, we used 2018 as our cutoff, a good split between stuff that is currently getting cycled out (such as Batgirl and Spider-Girl), and stuff that hasn’t been explored in a long time.  We did leave off “Witchblade” and “Rocket” from the list as both are being relaunched later this year by Image Comics and Milestone Comics, respectively.

Tell us which of these wonderful super-women deserves her own series sooner rather than later.  And while you’re waiting for the results on Monday, drop a line to the publisher of your choice and encourage them to put your character in the spotlight – – more comics, and more women in comics, is never a bad thing.
