Buying comics can be an expensive hobby. A lot of fans simply can’t afford everything they’re interested in, due to rising prices and the over-saturation of the market with superhero titles.
That’s why we’re here. Every week, the Multiversity staff is asked “What would you buy this week if you couldn’t go over $20?” and shares their reasons why, in order to help others who might have similar tastes make their own decisions in buying comics on a budget. Be sure to leave your own picks in the comments!

Luke’s Picks:
Bunny Mask #1 ($4.99) – This new horror series sees a supernatural entity that wears a bunny mask (shocking, I know) walking free once again and it looks pretty creepy. I’m not usually one for horror comics but I’ll give it a go. Hopefully I’ll make it through the whole issue.
X-Men #21 ($3.99) – The ‘Hellfire Gala’ has surprised me so far, albeit with the supporting issues more than the ‘key’ issues. “X-Men” #21 is sure to be a big finale for Hickman’s tenure on the title and look at that artist team: Lucas Werneck, Sara Pichelli, Nick Dragotta, and Russell Dauterman. Not bad, eh?
Excalibur #21 ($3.99) – As previously mentioned, I thought that “Hellions” and “X-Force” telling stories in and around the main events of the ‘Hellfire Gala’ were good fun last week so let’s see what “Excalibur” has in store for us.
Children of the Atom #4 ($3.99) – The third and final ‘Hellfire Gala’ issue of the week and, while for completionists that in itself will be enough to pick up this issue, “Children of the Atom” has been good fun so far, offering something a little different to the rest of the ‘Reign of X.’ I hope the team manages to reach Krakoa this week.

Kate’s Picks:
Secret Land #1 ($3.99): Things that hook me in no matter what: supernatural stories and period pieces. This has both.
DC Pride #1 ($9.99): What piqued my interest when this was first announced was the comic book introduction of Dreamer, a (woefully underused) character on Supergirl but the rest of the lineup looks pretty good too.
Archie 80th Anniversary #1 ($3.99): Not so much picking this up for myself, but to gift to my mom, who read Archie Comics growing up and — I’d like to think thanks to me working for this site — rediscovered them a few years ago. It was also her birthday on Sunday, so this’ll be a nice little extra birthday gift for her.
Total: $17.97

Brian’s Picks:
DC Pride #1 ($9.99) – Representation matters, and DC has been making strides over their last few years to not just incorporate more diverse characters into their monthly comics, but also to hire a workforce that better represents the world on and off the page. “DC Pride” is the latest in DC’s anthology titles to shine a spotlight on a particular group during their monthlong celebration. Let’s hope that DC continues to not just treat diversity as fodder for one-shots, but to actually populate comics with characters that everyone can relate to and be inspired by.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #13 ($3.99) – I am shocked at how good the ‘War of the Bounty Hunters’ event has been thus far. “Bounty Hunters” is my least favorite of the Star Wars title at Marvel, but as part of this event, it fits like a glove.
Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton #1 ($3.99) – Kyle Starks is a creator that’s new series always gets a buy from me, and this looks like a fun way to spend a few minutes this week. But when does Starks make something that isn’t fun?
