Buying comics can be an expensive hobby. A lot of fans simply can’t afford everything they’re interested in, due to rising prices and the over-saturation of the market with superhero titles.
That’s why we’re here. Every week, the Multiversity staff is asked “What would you buy this week if you couldn’t go over $20?” and shares their reasons why, in order to help others who might have similar tastes make their own decisions in buying comics on a budget. Be sure to leave your own picks in the comments!

Christopher’s Pick:
Danger and Other Unknown Risks ($16.99) : “Unbeatable Squirrel Girl” creators Ryan North and Erica Henderson’s reunion is a unique spin on the post-apocalyptic genre, where magic destroyed technology and remade the world in 2000. That’s about all I know, and that’s all I need to know, because their previous work was so witty, funny, clever and cartoonish, and I’m sure this original follow-up will be even more imaginative and inventive.
Total: $16.99

Kate’s Picks:
Junk Rabbit #1 ($3.99): The solicit calls this series “Swamp Thing meets RoboCop” but I call this series “what if WALL-E met the Marvel Cinematic Universe?” With its message on consumerism and climate change, perhaps that is the more apt comparison.
Hairball #1 ($5.99): For all those who love their black cats in the face of what conventional wisdom tells you about how much bad luck they bring, this story’s for you.
Love Everlasting #6 ($3.99): Good satire leans hard into the wink and a smile concept, and this series that satirizes Gold and Silver Age romance comics does just that, and does it pretty well. This is a new story arc, and while reading the previous arc will pull back the curtain on some of this series’s secrets, you can still jump right in here.
