Buying comics can be an expensive hobby. A lot of fans simply can’t afford everything they’re interested in, due to rising prices and the over-saturation of the market with superhero titles.
That’s why we’re here. Every week, the Multiversity staff is asked “What would you buy this week if you couldn’t go over $20?” and shares their reasons why, in order to help others who might have similar tastes make their own decisions in buying comics on a budget. Be sure to leave your own picks in the comments!

Christopher’s Pick:
Brooms ($18.99): In a post-Potter world, it’s more important than ever to have magical stories imagining witches and wizards in our world outside the purview of a wealthy bigot, and Jasmine Walls, Teo DuVall, Bex Glendining & Ariana Maher’s OGN, which follows a group of diverse broom riders in 1930s Mississippi, feels like a very welcome response to that.
Total: $18.99

Kate’s Picks:
Midlife (Or How to Be a Hero at Fifty) #1 ($3.99): As someone who’s getting closer to 50 than she is to 40, even though she still wears hoodies and chucks, the more middle age heroes we see, the better. As a friend told me recently, “you’re in the prime of your life” in your mid-40s, so embrace it. Glad to see comics doing the same.
Mall Goth ($14.99): I’m an 80s girl from New Jersey. My second home is and always will be, the mall.
