Welcome, citizens, to this week’s installment of Multiver-City One! Each and every Wednesday we will be examining the latest Prog from Tharg and the droids over at 2000 AD, and giving you all the pertinent information you’ll need headed into this week’s Thrill-Zine!
I. THIS WEEK IN PROG 1856
Flesh: Badlanders, Part 7

As you can see above, Pat Mills and James McKay bring the action this week. Winner-take-all gladiatorial combat before the eyes of a wild and ravenous audience: the election of the President! Wait, what? While the above scene does take place in this week’s Prog, along with a nerve-wracking encounter between everyone’s favorite dinosaur Gorehead and the local constables, you also get the winnowing of the future Presidential field from eight to four. Hand-picked by your corporate masters for your voting privilege, this quartet of ‘candidates’ may be futuristic, but you might recognize one or two if you squint a little. All that and Dancin’ Jim the Raptor! Will the contender grab one of Jim’s tailfeathers and win the battle, or is he plucked?

II. NOW ARRIVING
Tharg’s 3rillers: Rewind, Part 1

Tharg’s 3rillers is back! If this is your first, the concept is simple: a complete thrill in three 5-page chapters. This week’s Prog brings us the first installment of a story called Rewind. New Scotland Yard’s cold case unit is approaching their workload a little differently than most would imagine. You see, if a murder is going to have a decent shot at being solved, it’s gotta happen in the first 24 hours. But what if that murder took place in 1781? Well, you create a time blister, of course! Blisters are self-contained bubbles of time created when something traumatic happens, and are the perfect way to insert agents into the past without interfering with the future. But, it seems that this bubble isn’t exactly keeping our fearless crime-solvers from being detected! Tune in next week to see how it all shakes out!

III. AN ORAL HISTORY OF JUDGE DREDD
The tale of Judge Dredd has been continually published since 1977, and has been brought to us by some of the most creative minds to ever work in comics. As a result, there have been some out-of-this-world story beats woven into the fabric of the character. We thought it would be interesting to talk with the writers and artists behind Mega-City One and see what their favorite bits of Dredd’s history are. This week the one and only Andy Diggle joins us to talk Lenny Zero and The Wally Squad!

IV. FUTURE PERP FILES
ATTN: ALL CITIZENS OF THE MEG! Be aware that there is always a Judge watching you. Each sector is equipped with millions of HD-CCTV and bioID units. They are there for your protection. If your intent is upright citizenry, then you have no qualm with our surveillance. And remember: if you see something, you are now an accessory to a crime. That’s six months in an Iso-Cube, creep! Random CPU algorithms has selected this citizen for immediate surveillance and assessment…

That’s gonna do it for us this week! Prog 1856 is on sale today and is available from finer comic shops everywhere, from 2000ADonline.com, and via the 2000 AD Newsstand app for iPad and iPhone. So as Tharg the Mighty himself would say, “Splundig vur thrigg!”
