Multiversity Turns 5 with: A Video Message, From Us to You

It’s true, dear readers: as of today, Multiversity Comics is officially 5 years old!

We know. We can hardly believe it either. After all, it seems like just yesterday we were starting up in order to defend X-Men Origins: Wolverine, doesn’t it? And gosh, those articles are kind of funny to look back on.

But if anything, it illustrates our growth. We’ve elevated ourselves from a blog of one idiot with something stuck in his craw about a movie that probably didn’t need to be defended, and turned that into a site with a staff of 18 people, all of whom have diverse opinions on all walks of comics life. We even managed to sneak in an Eisner nom before turning 5, which was pretty great timing all things considered.

So in celebration of our 5 years, we have a whole lot of content to share with you. In fact, be sure to come back next week, where we’ll spend the entire week unleashing awesome interviews, exclusive previews and announcements and more. It’s going to be wild. We’ve curated some really cool things from some of our favorite people in comics.

In the meantime, though, we’ve created the above video of us to share with you, our readers. If nothing else, Multiversity prides itself on having a staff that is identifiable by their own personalities. While I’m sure some do, I’m always proud to see that most people do not look at this site and think of us as a hive mind in which every member of the site is forced to agree to a singular doctrine of belief. Far from it; every single site member brings something different, something special and unique to the table — and it’s with that in mind that we created this video.

I guess you can think of it is as Multiversity’s 5 Year Documentary. In a manner of speaking, anyway. And be sure to stay after the credits; we learned a thing or two from Marvel about the value of stingers.

And who knows. Maybe by the time Multiversity Comics hits 10, the comic I named the site after might even be completed, let alone actually out! Wakka wakka.

(Insert copious knocking on wood here.)

So from myself, Matthew Meylikhov, and on behalf of the entire staff of Multiversity, we want to thank you so much for visiting us and being our motivation to keep doing what it is we do. Multiversity Comics is by people who love comics, for people who love comics:

Staff Portrait by Joe Hunter

Our site’s staff portrait was done by my favorite Joe hunter, Joe Hunter. You can find more work from him on his website, and be sure to follow him on Twitter and Tumblr. You can check out Joe’s comics as well, such as “Not So Super” and his contribution to the “BOO!” Anthology.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
