Marvel announced today via the Associated Press that “Agents of Atlas” will return this August as a five-issue miniseries, with writers Grek Pak and Jeff Parker, and artists Gang-Hyuk Lim and Carlo Pagulayan. The agents are currently embroiled in a “War of the Realms” tie-in series, “War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas,” which stars a new iteration of the team consisting of Marvel’s highest profile Asian and Asian-American heroes. That squad of Marvel characters, featuring the likes of Jimmy Woo, Amadeus Cho, Silk, Shang-Chi, Wave, Luna Snow, Crescent & Io, Aero, and Swordmaster, will headline the book. Pak and Lim, who are the current creators on the “War of the Realms” tie-in, will pen the adventures of those characters as they “defend the cross-Asian portal city of Pan against the science-magic threat of one of Marvel’s classic villains.”

Parker and Pagulayan, meanwhile, will craft a second storyline that features members of the original team including Namora, M-11, Gorilla Man and Marvel Boy on a “top-secret mission.” This second story reunites Parker, who co-created Agents of Atlas, with Pagulayan, who drew the second volume of the series.

Pak described his excitement for the series saying, “It’s always been my dream to do a team book using a bunch of Asian and Asian American heroes. There’s literally never been a better time in my memory with more opportunities for doing work that specifically includes Asian and Asian American characters.”

The second issue of “New Agents of Atlas” released yesterday, with the tie-in set to wrap next month. “Agents of Atlas” #1 will debut with 40-pages and a $4.99 price-point on August 7th, 2019. Marvel have also released the rest of their August 2019 solicitations, which we’ll cover in Soliciting Multiversity columns next week.
