At San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, AHOY Comics revealed three new ongoing series: “Bright Boy” by writer Stuart Moore and artist Peter Gross, “True Identity” by writer Tom Peyer and artist Alan Robinson, and “Noah Zark” by writer Mark Waid and artist Lanna Souvanny. These three series were given pilot stories in last month’s one-shot, “Steel Cage” #1, with fans being directed to the publisher’s website in order to vote for the story they think should be given a full ongoing series. The voting period ran up until a few days ago, with the announcement of the result being made at AHOY Comics’ panel last night.
Editor-in-chief of AHOY Comics, Tom Peyer, broke the news via a pre-recorded message at the panel, detailing that there were significant voting irregularities with the contest, and that the votes could not be certified to be the true outcome of the vote. Instead, the decision was made to allow all of the creators to return to the stories for ongoing series. In addition to this, Peyer specified that the suspected voting fraud, which saw a number of votes that did not correlate to the number of sales of “Steel Cage” #1, would be thoroughly investigated.
In “Steel Cage” #1, “Bright Boy” told the tale of the world’s smartest human and the havoc that he leaves in his wake; “True Identity” revealed the secret anguish that is the driving force behind the most beloved superhero on Earth; and “Noah Zark” told the story of an alien boy who is kidnapped and taken to an interplanetary zoo only to become the protector of the animals.
“Bright Boy” #1, “True Identity” #1 and “Noah Zark” #1 are all scheduled for release in early 2020.
