In another big Marvel-to-DC move, Bleeding Cool reports that artist Jim Cheung (“Marvel-Two-In-One”) will be joining writer Scott Snyder on DC’s “Justice League” relaunch. Cheung, a former Marvel “Young Gun” who just recently provided the promo art for Marvel’s “Fresh Start” initiative, will be providing covers and possibly rotating art duties with rising DC star Jorge Jiménez, as Snyder launches his post-“Metal” and “No Justice” take on the World’s Greatest Superheroes. All this info is based on a Penguin/Random House listing eventually unearthed by Newsarama, with no official announcement yet from DC.
It seems Snyder’s League line-up will revert toward a roster more familiar to those who watched the Justice League cartoon of the 2000s, including Green Lantern John Stewart, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter. Notably, however, Leaguers Cyborg and Aquaman will also remain on the team, merging the current League line-up with that of the cartoon. According to the Penguin/Random House listing, Snyder’s League will start its tenure diving into new corners of the DC Universe opened up by “Metal” and “No Justice.” Maybe-villain-maybe-hero Lex Luthor is also set to show up in the first arc, though he doesn’t seem to be part of the new team line-up.
No word yet, official or unofficial, on what other Justice League-centric books will be spinning out of “No Justice,” though it’s likely we’ll hear more on James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson’s still unannounced books soon. For now, you’ll have to content yourself with reading the full solicit for the first trade of Snyder’s “Justice League,” found below.
