This April, Jeff Lemire and Tyler Crook will explore the weirdest corners of the “Black Hammer” universe in “Colonel Weird: Cosmagog.” The four-issue series will focus on the past, present, and future of “Black Hammer”‘s strangest hero, and tell readers what happened to Weird after the events of 2018’s “Black Hammer: Age of Doom” series.
“Colonel Weird has been my favorite ‘Black Hammer’ character since Dean Ormston and I created him,” said Lemire, in The Hollywood Reporter article announcing the series. “I’ve always wanted to do a series where the storytelling would echo Weird’s unique mind, and unique perspective. Tyler Crook’s work more than lives up to the challenge. This is a deep dive into Colonel Weird’s past and his future.”
“I think Jeff and Dean have created one of the most interesting and heartfelt superhero universes that we’ve seen in decades,” said Crook. “I feel lucky to get the chance to contribute to the world.”
“Colonel Weird: Cosmagog” joins an ever-expanding list of “Black Hammer” spin-offs and crossovers, including the recently launched “Skulldigger + Skeleton Boy” and freshly concluded “Black Hammer/Justice Leauge: Hammer of Justice!” And of course, all “Black Hammer” content is up for grabs as Legendary Entertainment continues developing its multiplatform adaptation of Lemire and co.’s work.
