DC Comics have announced the newest addition to their Digital First lineup: a fourteen-part series, “DCeased: Hope at World’s End,” by writer Tom Taylor and artists Dustin Nguyen, Renato Guedes, Carmine Di Giandomenico, and Marco Failla. Ben Oliver, Francesco Mattina and Yasmine Putri will be providing the cover art for the series.
“DCeased” told the story of the World’s Finest fighting against zombie-like creatures, and in issue #5, there was a time jump that skipped multiple weeks. “DCeased: Hope at World’s End” will tell the story of those skipped weeks and see Superman, Wonder Woman, and more, fighting against the infection in the aftermath of the fall of Metropolis. In a statement, Taylor directly addressed Super Sons fans, saying that they “won’t want to miss the apocalyptic adventures of Damian and Jon as they stand up to the worst crisis the Earth has ever seen, and take their first steps on the road to becoming the next World’s Finest.”
Speaking more widely about the spin-off series, Taylor said “There was a point in ‘DCeased’ where we had to make the decision to skip weeks of losses and triumphs and heroism or our first miniseries wouldn’t exactly be a miniseries. But we knew we had a larger story to tell, so we seeded plots we could expand on and deliberately left huge characters off the table for the future. That future is here.”
“DCeased: Hope at World’s End” is the second spin-off series in the “DCeased” continuity, following “DCeased: Unkillables,” which concluded today, May 19. A sequel to the original miniseries, “DCeased: Dead Planet,” is scheduled to start in June.
“DCeased: Hope at World’s End” will be released twice a month. Issue #1 by Tom Taylor, Dustin Nguyen, colorist Rex Lokus, and letterer Saida Temofonte, is available now. The full cover gallery for issue #1, its preview artwork, and the full press release are as follows.
