Via IGN, DC have announced they are reviving the ‘Elseworlds’ line with six new series, namely “Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age”; “Batman the Barbarian”; “Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter”; “Green Lantern: Dark”; “Batman: Nightfire”; and “DC vs. Vampires: World War V.”

– “Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age” (12 issues) by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez is a sequel to the 1989 classic by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola (plus Augustyn and Eduardo Barreto’s 1991 follow-up “Master of the Future.”) The comic will see the 19th century version of Batman form the Justice League, and uncover the secret history between Earth and Krypton.
– “Batman the Barbarian” (six issues) by writer/artist Greg Smallwood, which, quite simply, reimagines Bruce Wayne as a Conan the Barbarian-type in a Medieval fantasy version of the DC Universe.
– “Batman: Nightfire” (six issues) by Clay Mann, and his inker and brother, Seth Mann. The premise revolves around a secret Batman would rather let Gotham burn over than be unleashed, and will also apparently see the Dark Knight travel back in time to rewrite his past.

– “Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter” (six issues) by Jay Kristoff and Tirso Cons. A spin-off of Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri’s Medieval fantasy series, “Allwinter” centers on a Viking berserker version of Deathstroke, as he wanders a frozen wasteland, and becomes a reluctant hero.
– “DC vs. Vampires: World War V” (12 issues) by Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt, a sequel to the pair’s 2022 series, that will pick up with the surviving heroes as humanity begins to restore sunlight to the world. However, the undead Barbara Gordon has other plans…
– “Green Lantern: Dark” (seven issues) by Tate Brombal (“House of Slaughter”) and Werther Dell’Edera (“Something is Killing the Children”), set on a sunless version of Earth, apparently infested with the undead. “A new Green Lantern has emerged as the only remaining hero, but she goes missing just as humanity needs her most.”
It was not stated when the series would begin, beyond sometime next year. DC executive editor Ben Abernathy states, “Out-of-continuity stories have always been a pillar of DC publishing, granting creators the ability to explore all the wild corners of the DC Universe. We’re excited to bring a whole new slate of titles under the ‘Elseworlds’ banner in 2024, combining some all-new titles from top storytellers, as well as sequels from the current DC line that fit that same out-of-continuity aesthetic.” Head to IGN for artwork and more in the meantime.
