DC Comics have announced several new titles, starring some of their most prominent LGBTQ+ characters, to mark Pride Month in June (and “continue through the year.”) They consist of the 104-page anthology “DC Pride 2022,” a new “Poison Ivy” series, “Nubia: Queen of the Amazons,” “Multiversity: Teen Justice,” and “DC Pride: Tim Drake Special.”

'DC Pride 2022'

– “DC Pride 2022” will release on May 31, and feature an introduction by Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines, as well as stories by Jadzia Axelrod and Lynne Yoshii, Alyssa Wong and W. Scott Forbes, Tini Howard and Evan Cagle, Dani Fernandez and Zoe Thorogood, and many more. It is the second “DC Pride” annual in a row, following the first special from 2021. The main cover art will be provided by Phil Jimenez and Arif Prianto, while a wraparound variant cover by Joshua “Sway” Swaby, and a 1:25 variant cover by Jen Bartel, will also be available.

– “Poison Ivy,” written by G. Willow Wilson with art by Marcio Takara, will see Ivy leave Gotham City “to complete her greatest work — a gift to the world that will heal the damage humanity has dealt to it!” The six-issue series begins June 7, and will have a main cover by Jessica Fong, plus assorted variant artwork, including a Pride cover by Kris Anka.

– “Nubia: Queen of the Amazons,” by writer Stephanie Williams, artist Alitha Martinez, and inker Mark Morales. The four-issue series picks up after May’s “Nubia: Coronation Special,” where Nubia will be crowned Queen of the Amazons in the wake of the current crossover event ‘Trial of the Amazons.’ It will also begin on June 7, and be released with a main cover by Khary Randolph, a Pride variant by Kevin Wada, and more.

– “Multiversity: Teen Justice” (which also begins June 7), by writers Ivan Cohen & Danny Lore, and artists Marco Failla & Enrica Eren Angiolini. The six-issue series follows the non-binary Kid Quick (the ‘Future State’ Flash) and their fellow young heroes from Earth-11, as they uncover the secrets of the mysterious Raven, “the brooding hero who has refused to join the team in the past.” The first issue’s main cover will be drawn by Robbi Rodriguez, while Stephen Byrne will provide the Pride variant.

– “DC Pride: Tim Drake Special,” by writer Meghan Fitzmartin, and artists Belén Ortega & Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque. Releasing June 14, the 64-page comic will reprint Fitzmartin and Ortega’s “Batman: Urban Legends” story, where Tim Drake realized he was bisexual, and feature a new segment where Tim teams up with his former Young Justice teammates and the Batgirls. Ortega provides the main cover art, while Travis Moore has drawn a tender open-to-order variant of Tim and his boyfriend Bernard Dowd.

These all join the upcoming Free Comic Book Day (May 7) edition of “Galaxy: The Prettiest Star,” the trans-themed YA graphic novel by Jadzia Axelrod and Jess Taylor (out in stores May 17.) DC also announced a line of Pride-themed variant covers for the month, including titles like “Action Comics,” “Batman,” and “Wonder Woman”: for further details on those and all the aforementioned comics, head to DCComics.com.
