Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. Every year, our Jewish brethren celebrate the rededication of the temple by the Maccabees after defeating the Syrian Army and the day’s supply of oil that lasted eight nights in their lamps.

Since 2015, December has also been Star Wars season. All three of the sequel trilogy films, as well as Rogue One, came out in December, which has also featured the finale of both seasons of The Mandalorian.

We decided to celebrate both the Jewish holiday and the galaxy far, far away this year in an event we are calling the Festival of Lightsabers! Each night from tonight until the conclusion on Hanukkah on December 18th, we will be hosting a giveaway of some amazing Star Wars gear: books, decorations, comics, and more. At 5:00pm EST, after the sun sets here on the East Coast, we will be posting a new giveaway, along with specific instructions for how to enter. All contests will remain open until Friday, December 19 at 8pm EST. Winners will be contacted that weekend.

Note: Shipping will be free to the United States; if a non-US Resident wins a prize, they will be required to share the shipping costs or forfeit their prize.

In addition to giveaways, we’ve got lots of Star Wars focused content over the next 8 days: essays, podcasts, art features, as well as a special event on Sunday, which we will be announcing Friday at 3pm EST, which we are already regretting.

So, check back every night at 5pm for the giveaway, and to our Jewish friends, “Chag Urim Sameach!”
