DC Comics have announced their 2020 Free Comic Book Day offerings, consisting of the Gold title “Generation Zero,” which will lay the foundation for the future of the DC Universe, and the Silver “DC Middle Grade Graphic Novels,” which will contain reprints and previews of recent and upcoming graphic novels for younger readers.

The 32-page “Generation Zero” will contain two stories, the first being ‘Flash Forward: Epilogue,’ a continuation of the miniseries of the same name by the same creators, writer Scott Lobdell and artist Brett Booth. Having now taken his place in the Moebius Chair, Wally West now finds himself imbued with the godlike powers of Doctor Manhattan, and the ability to see the past, present and future simultaneously – “including what needs to be changed.” The other story will be a reprint of Scott Snyder and Bryan Hitch’s “Wonder Woman” #750 contribution ‘A Brave New World.’ The comic, published last month, reestablished Wonder Woman as DC’s oldest superhero by depicting her as saving Franklin D. Roosevelt from an assassination attempt at the 1930 World’s Fair in New York, and inspiring other early heroes like Alan Scott (the first Green Lantern).

“DC Middle Grade Graphic Novels” will contain reprints of the first chapters of “Batman: Overdrive” and “Batman Tales: Once Upon a Crime,” as well as previews of the upcoming “My Video Game Ate My Homework” and “Primer.” Shea Fontana and Marcelo Di Chiara’s “Batman: Overdrive” told the story of a young Bruce Wayne rebuilding his dad’s first car, while “Batman Tales” saw Derek Fridolfs and Dustin Nguyen reimagine classic fairy tales as short, comedic Gotham City stories. “My Video Game Ate My Homework,” by Dustin Hansen, and “Primer” (written by Thomas Krajewski and Jennifer Muro with art by Gretel Lusky), revolve around new characters, and will be respectively released on April 21, and June 23, 2020.

Both “Generation Zero” and “DC Middle Grade Graphic Novels” will be made available in comic book stores and online on Free Comic Book Day, May 2, 2020.
