During today’s Legendary Comics Comic-Con@Home panel, actor Oscar Isaac appeared to announce his first graphic novel, “Head Wounds: Sparrow.” The book, created by Isaac, Bob Johnson, and John Alvey, will be scripted by Brian Buccellato (“The Flash”), with art by Christian Ward (“Invisible Kingdom,” “Black Bolt”), and tell the story of Leo Guidry, a cop with a “psychic head wound” that enables him to observe an invisible war between angels, demons, “and everything in-between.”

The book was inspired by a dream Bob Johnson had after being diagnosed with with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Isaac, who has been friends with Johnson since childhood, told The Hollywood Reporter, “Bob Johnson has a mind and a soul like no one else. Our friendship and creative collaboration has spanned nearly three decades. I couldn’t be more excited to bring his unique and singular vision of ‘Head Wounds: Sparrow’ to life with the incredible group of artists we’ve assembled.”

The project was developed by Isaac for his production company Mad Gene; other upcoming projects from the actor at Legendary Entertainment include the Dune remake (where he plays Duke Leto Atreides), and The Great Machine, a film version of Brian K. Vaughan and Tony Harris’s “Ex Machina” (retitled to avoid confusion with the 2014 thriller Isaac starred in).

“Head Wounds: Sparrow” will be released online and in stores by Legendary in early 2021.
