During the Diamond Retailer Summit held before the official start of the weekend’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Image Comics announced a new series from writer Skottie Young (“I Hate Fairyland”), artist Aaron Conley (“Sabertooth Swordsman”), colorist Jean-Francois Beaulieu (“I Hate Fairyland), and letterer Nate Piekos (“I Hate Fairyland”), called “Bully Wars.”

“Bully Wars” is billed as an “all-ages Freaks and Geeks meets Hunger Games… without the killing,” and follows Spencer and his lifelong bully, Rufus, in the town of Rottenville. As Spencer and Rufus enter high school they form an unlikely alliance to help Rufus compete in the school’s Bully Wars. How this competition will affect the bully and his victim remains to be seen, but readers can expect some of that Skottie Young humor to keep them entertained.

This is Young’s second creator-owned series at Image Comics after “I Hate Fairyland.” Conley, meanwhile, has contributed covers and interior artwork to issues of Image’s “It Girl and the Atomics,” “Prophet” and “God Hates Astronauts.”

Not much more information was given, however you can expect the book to be released sometime in the fall. In the meantime, head over to Paste magazine, and get a glimpse at some of the interior artwork awaiting Skottie Young fans.
