According to Deadline, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will adding Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment to his roles at the Walt Disney Company, bringing the creative choices for Marvel across all platforms–including publishing, TV, film, and animation–under his purview.

The move is the latest step in Feige’s climb up Marvel’s corporate-creative ladder, placing him above Marvel Entertainment Chairman Ike Perlmutter, whom Feige has reportedly clashed with in the past. Feige will continue to report to Walt Disney Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Alan Horn, and Co-Chairman Alan Bergman.
The new corporate chart will bring President of Marvel Entertainment Dan Buckley into a dual-reporting structure, with Buckley reporting to Feige on creative and editorial decisions, and to Perlmutter for matters relating to operations, sales, creative services, games, licensing and events. The remainder of Marvel’s creative leads, including VP of content and character development Sana Amanat, editor-in-chief and head of global editorial CB Cebulski, and VP of creative and content development Stephen Wacker, will continue to report to Buckley.
The change comes at an interesting time for both Marvel and Feige, following Marvel Studios’s announcement of their Phase 4 slate of movies and television. Likely helping Feige’s case for a promotion is his status as the producer of the newly-crowned box office champion Avengers: Endgame. He succeeds former Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada, who was appointed CCO of the entire company in 2010 – according to The Hollywood Reporter, Quesada will remain as a creative director at the company.
