NYCC: Moebius Library Coming Soon from Dark Horse

Long considered one of the most influential comic artists of all time, Jean Giraud (1938-2012), aka Moebius, had created this huge and vast bibliography of work as famous today for its impact as its lack of availability. He dived into numerous genres, including the Western and the superhero comic, but he’s probably best known for his science-fiction and fantasy work, especially “The Airtight Garage” and “The Incal.”

Currently, his work has been available through Humanoids, who’ve been releasing them in these oversized editions, which are admittedly well put-together but also expensive, meaning their availability hasn’t been accessible to very many people apart from collectors.

Dark Horse Comics is set to change that. Just ahead of New York Comic Con, they’ve announced plans to publish “The Moebius Library.” This will apparently be a “lavish series”, printed in hardcover, and with stories available for the “first time in nearly twenty years.”

Dark Horse hasn’t announced their plans of how they plan to release this series (chronologically like Fantagraphics’ Carl Barks books? Group in story collections?), but more people with access to someone who’s influenced the medium so strongly is a definite plus.

We at Multiversity Comics will keep you updated with more news as we learn about it.
