Over the past few years, we’ve had a pretty strong relationship with the independent comic publisher Comixtribe. Originally beginning as a comic news community, it quickly evolved into an independent publisher and house of ideas, putting out comics like “Oxymoron,” “SCAM,” “The Red Ten” and more.
Today, as part of our 5 year celebration, we reached out to Comixtribe to see if they had any interest in participating in our anniversary special. In return, Tyler James of Comixtribe sent over a massive write-up with all kinds of exclusives, specially chosen for our readers. As such, we now present to you a whole bunch of Comixtribe goodness.
Take it away, Tyler:
Happy 5 Year Anniversary, Multiversity! Oh, whatever do you get a young comic news and review site as a gift? (They are so tough to shop for at this age!)
In all seriousness, the ComixTribe team is incredibly grateful for the support the fine folks at Multiversity have shows us over the past five years. It’s been exciting to watch your site grow, and we are extremely appreciative of the work you’ve done to get the word out about projects not only from the top publishers in comics, but the young and hungry bootstrapped imprints like ComixTribe.
So, in honor of your fifth anniversary, we’ve pulled together FIVE Multiversity Exclusives related to upcoming ComixTribe projects. Hope you enjoy them!
1) Garry Brown (“The Massive”) Joins All-Star Cast of Variant Cover Artists for “AND THEN EMILY WAS GONE,” debuting in July from ComixTribe!
Enjoy a first look at the Garry Brown (“The Massive”) variant cover for “AND THEN EMILY WAS GONE,” the upcoming supernatural horror mini-series from John Lees (“The Standard”) and Iain Laurie (“Horror Mountain”). Garry’s variant cover is for “EMILY” #3, and he joins the all-star line-up of Riley Rossmo and Nick Pitarra who are doing variants for issue #1 and #2 respectively.
We know Multiversity is a fan of the series, having reviewed the black and white version of the first two issues that’s been tearing up the UK convention circuit. We’re confident you’re going to love the Megan Wilson full-color version coming out monthly from ComixTribe starting in July.
2) “EPIC” #2 First Look!
This is an “EPIC” week! On Free Comic Book Day, 33,000+ copies of “EPIC” #0 Pilot were given out gratis at comic shops around the world, a tremendous lead in for “EPIC” #1, out Wednesday, ComixTribe’s biggest new series debut in our young history.
But, we’re not sitting on our laurels. “EPIC” #2 is in the May Previews (MAY141252), and Multiversity has an exclusive first look at a few gorgeous Fico Ossio pages!
3) C is for Cthulhu: Lovecraft ABC’s is Coming!
Ready for a change-up? So are we. While comics will always be our focus, ComixTribe is branching out a bit into children’s publishing for a special project. “C is for Cthulhu” is a Lovecraft-inspired alphabet board book project, written by Jason Ciaramella (“The Cape”) and gorgeously illustrated by newcomer Greg Murphy.
Here’s a Multiversity Exclusive page from the book, featuring “Red Cthulhu!”
4) Oxymoron Gets a Sidekick!
And speaking of Greg Murphy, he’s lending his concept design skills to the upcoming “OXYMORON” 2 anthology, in which our contradiction obsessed psychopath gets a sidekick!
Ananke is a pixie-sized chrono-fairy, who will serve as Oxymoron’s reluctant chauffeur throughout time and space, as he seeks to wrong the greatest rights of history! Expect “OXY” 2 in early 2015.
5) What the #$% are Mulvey & James Working on?
Mum is still the word on the new project Joe Mulvey is tackling now that SCAM has been Ultimately Collected. But Multiversity is getting an exclusive first tease of some concept sketches of his next project right here:
What we can tell you is that it’s a genre mash-up of supernatural horror and a political action thriller, and he’s co-creating it with Tyler James (“EPIC,” “THE RED TEN.”)
Continued belowNo doubt, when there’s more to show, Multiversity will be the first to have it.
And there it is! Five Multiversity exclusives for 5 great years of Multiversity content. Better than a pair of socks, right?
Sincerely,
Your Friends at ComixTribe
