During Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic Con, the publisher unveiled five previously teased major series for 2024 — “Fall of the House of X,” “Rise of the Powers of X,” “Avengers: Twilight,” “Resurrection of Magneto,” and “Ultimate Spider-Man” — while dropping a few more surprises along the way.
‘Fall of the House of X’:
– “Fall of the House of X,” five issues, by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Lucas Werneck, finds the X-Men scattered to the winds, and Cyclops on trial, facing the death penalty, in the wake of ‘Fall of X.’ “Ready or not, the time has come for the X-Men to make their final stand against the forces that have struck them low. The day is now. The place is here. The tale of the house Xavier built will long be told… and few will forget this darkest chapter.” Issue #1 releases January 3.
– “Rise of the Powers of X,” also five issues, by Kieron Gillen and R.B. Silva, takes place in the future, a decade after mutantkind failed to reclaim Earth from Orchis. With Orchis “choking the world, Nimrod and Omega Sentinel put their plan within a plan into action. They are to summon their binary god to consume everything in their accession. All that stands between them is the X-Men.” It begins January 10.
– “Resurrection of Magneto,” four issues, by Al Ewing and Luciano Vecchio, will see the return of the Master of Magnetism following his death in 2022’s ‘A.X.E.: Judgment Day.’ It follows Storm as she struggles to bring him back, now that the Five and Cerebro are missing after the fall of Krakoa. And if that wasn’t enough, “after all he did, and all that was done to him, can Magneto bear to return?” The series starts January 24.
Ultimate Universe:
– “Ultimate Spider-Man” by Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto, which centers on Spidey being the hero the world needs in the wake of “Ultimate Invasion.” Hickman likened his take on the character to Peter B. Parker, the older iteration of the hero from the Spider-Verse movies. It starts January 10.
– “Ultimate Black Panther,” by Bryan Edward Hill and Stefano Caselli. The series, which marks the first Ultimate Black Panther solo, follows the King of Wakanda as he battles Moon Knight, who in this revamped universe is an imperialistic fusion of Khonshu and Ra trying to expand their rule of Africa. It debuts February 7.
– “Ultimate X-Men,” by writer and artist Peach Momoko. The book will follow Armor/Hisako Ichiki as she “discovers she’s a mutant — and she’s not the only one! Meet a new generation of mutants, filled with original and familiar X-Men characters. Together, they’ll learn what it means to be mutant in the Ultimate Universe as they explore their emerging powers and the startling ways they connect to folklore, legend, and magic!” It begins March 6.
The new Ultimate line will kick off beforehand with Hickman and Caselli’s “Ultimate Universe” one-shot on November 1.
Other:
– “Avengers: Twilight,” a dystopian series by Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña, starting January 17. The six-parter follows a retired Steve Rogers in a prosperous but broken America “where freedom is an illusion, [the] Avengers are strangers, and his friends are long dead. But is the Dream? How do you assemble Avengers in a world that doesn’t want them?”
– “Infinity Paws,” an Infinity Comics series by writer Jason Loo (who’s penned nearly every pet-centric exclusive for Marvel Unlimited), and artist Nao Fuji (“Marvel Meow”). Launching in Spring 2024, the comic will bring together Jeff the Land Shark, Chewie, Alligator Loki, and Lucky the Pizza Dog for the “clawsover of the century.” (No word on whether Infinity Stones will actually be involved.)
– ‘Blood Hunt,’ a vampire-centric crossover by writer Jed MacKay, artist Pepe Larraz, and colorist Marte Gracia for Spring 2024. Few specifics were given, although MacKay said, “We’ve got the Avengers, Moon Knight’s Midnight Mission, Doctor Strange, Miles Morales, and of course, Blade, and there’s going to be more vampires you can shake a stick at.”

Marvel also announced a “Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver” miniseries by Steve Orlando and Lorenzo Tammetta yesterday, which you can read the details on in our coverage of all of the news from the third day of NYCC 2023.
