Via HorrorDNA.com, Scout Comics have announced Black Caravan, a new imprint of horror series debuting Fall 2020. Overseen by “The Electric Black” creators Joseph Schmalke and Rich Woodall, the imprint “aims to explore the darker side of creator-owned comics, high-end art books, and collectibles.” The first wave of titles consist of:
– “The Electric Black: The Black Caravan,” a prequel written and illustrated by Schmalke and Woodall. The synopsis reads, “Before the Electric Black there was a traveling carnival of wonders, the Black Caravan. People flocked to its showed exhibitions to behold the weird inhabitants, as well as the forbidden, dark goods. All is not what it seems and what we think of as good and evil are brought into question.”
– “The Electric Black Presents,” a spin-off revolving around four of the original book’s “most insidious characters,” written by Schmalke and Woodall with art by Paul Pelletier, Walter Ostlie, Christian DiBari, and Karl Moline.
– “The Perhapnauts,” a revival of writer Todd Dezago and artist Craig Rousseau’s series previously published by Dark Horse and Image. It follows a team of supernatural investigators working for the top secret government agency Bedlam, whose members include a Bigfoot, a Chupacabra, a Mothman, and a ghost.

– “Provenance of Madness,” a Lovecraftian anthology by writer Kiyarn Taghan, artist Christian DiBari (“Magdalena: Reformation”), and colorist Simon Gough (“Ringside”). “The collection also features a whole host of bonus artwork from a wide array of artists all keen to share their love for the things that should not be.”
– “Phantom Starkiller.” Based on the toy line by Killer Bootlegs and Super7, this “psychedelic space odyssey” by writer/toy designer Killer Bootlegs aka Peter Goral — with Schmalke on art — stars Phantom Starkiller, “the Cosmic Ghoul Warrior [who] will unleash his inner darkness to carry out his master’s wishes, all while plotting his revenge; for he cannot stop his interstellar rampage until The Curse of the Cryptocrystalline Stone has been broken!”
– “Broken Souls Ballad,” from the “Cold Blood Samurai” creative team of writer Massimo Rosi and artist Ludovica Ceregatti. This follows a group of adopted teenagers, who “discover they have dark and terrible powers, connected to the psychological distress and torture they endured in their early childhood.”
