The next chapter in Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston’s “Black Hammer” universe has been revealed. “The Quantum Age” will jump 1000 years into the future to follow a group of teens inspired by Black Hammer’s crew, as they fight against an autocratic government. The story will center around a Martian teen as he tries to reform the Quantum League “to get back in the game.” Lemire will be joined by Wilfredo Torres (“Black Panther,” “Jupiter’s Circle”) on art, Dave Stewart on colors, and Blambot’s Nate Piekos (“Doctor Star and the Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows”) on letters. “Black Bolt” artist Christian Ward will provide one of the variant covers.

Details about release date or number of issues are unknown at this time, but some details can be inferred. So far, the spin-off minis are both four issues and have not had overlapping schedules. The current miniseries, “Doctor Star and the Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows,” concludes in June, so “The Quantum Age” will probably start soon after as a four-issue mini as well.

The regular “Black Hammer” series was voted by Multiversity Comics staff as the Best Ongoing Series of 2017, and Lemire as the Best Writer. “Doctor Star and the Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows” is currently being released, and the ongoing will resume with “Black Hammer: Age of Doom” next month.
