In case you missed it, AfterShock announced “Disaster Inc.” by Joe Harris and Sebastián Piriz, and Abrams Books have revealed the creative team and release date for the new “Dune” graphic novel.

– David F. Walker (“Naomi,” “Bitter Root”) has announced his newest series, “The Hated.” Walker described it as “a western set in alternate history where the American Civil War ended very differently, ‘The Hated’ is a project I’ve been developing for a very long time … It is a gritty homage to spaghetti westerns, blaxploitation films, and the unsung exploits of black gunslingers and outlaws.” The series will feature art by Sean Damien Hill with colors by Shaun Struble. “The Hated” releases this Spring through Walker’s Solid Comix imprint.
– Sean Murphy took to Twitter to announce a new “Catwoman” series. The series will be written by Blake Northcott and co-plotted by Murphy: he will also be producing covers for the series. No artist has been announced, but colorist Matthew Hollingsworth is confirmed to be attached. It’s unknown as of yet whether this is an extension of the ongoing “Catwoman” series or if it’s another spin-off from Murphy’s “White Knight” universe, in the same vein as the one-shot “Batman: White Knight Presents Von Freeze.”
– G.I. Joe is getting its own mobile game with G.I. Joe: War On Cobra, a Clash of Clans-style war game that has users choose a side between Cobra and G.I. Joe. The game features famous characters like Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Roadblock, Storm Shadow and Baroness, as well as vehicles like H.I.S.S., Mamba, Vamp, and M.O.B.A.T. The game releases on January 20, 2020 on the App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore, and users can pre-register on Google Play.
– DC and Visa are releasing a series of superhero-themed credit cards. The cards give users 10% off on DC Universe memberships and 10% off at ShopDCEntertainment.com. Those who use the cards can get access to a line of “Ultimate Hero Rewards” that can be earned through the user’s credit line. There are seven cards total, with two Batman cards, and one each for Harley Quinn, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and the Justice League.
– The Visual Effects Society have released this year’s nominations for the 18th annual VES Awards, with comic book properties making waves in nearly every film and TV category. Alita: Battle Angel received five nominations including Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature, and Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature. Avengers: Endgame had three nominations, including Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature and Outstanding Compositing in a Feature. Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Umbrella Academy, Watchmen and Joker each received a single nomination. Meanwhile, Star Wars dominated in both film and TV, with Rise of Skywalker receiving four nominations and The Mandalorian receiving six. The ceremony will be held on January 29 at the Beverly Hilton.
– Finally, the CW is set to renew its entire in-season lineup for 2020-2021 with 13 series renewed. While Arrow, Supernatural and The 100 will all be concluding this season, Batwoman, Black Lightning, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Riverdale, Supergirl and more will all be renewed for another season. Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene wasn’t formally picked up but has received the order for 13 new scripts, giving it a good chance of survival. This is the second year in a row in which the network hasn’t cancelled any shows, which is a huge achievement, considering the last time a broadcast network went a year without cancelling any shows was at least 1981. The Flash will be entering its seventh season and Supergirl will be going into its sixth.
