– In an exclusive announcement, io9 revealed a first look and preview of Ari North’s sci-fi queer romance “Always Human.” “Always Human” began as a Webtoon series back in 2015, but now it’s being released as a GLAAD-sponsored graphic novel. The story takes place in the near-future where people use technological “mods” to change their body image. Sunati and Austen develop a relationship as they deal with friends, family, and the emotional conflicts that come with every romance. Together, “they learn and grow in a story that reminds us no matter how technology evolves, we will remain . . . always human.” “Always Human” will be available on May 20, 2020.
– In a press release, Dark Horse announced “Unfinished Business” from Paul Levitz (“Brooklyn Blood,” “Legion of Super-Heroes”) and artist Simon Fraser (“Kingsman: The Red Diamond,” “Doctor Who”). This original graphic novel “of dark mystery and magical realism” examines the relationship between science and society through the lenses of multiple religions. A priest, a minister and a rabbi, all of whom are dead, walk into a bar and must settle some unfinished business. But what does Heaven have in store for them after? Find out when “Unfinished Business” hits comic book shops on June 10, 2020.
– The CW has bypassed the traditional pilot stage and handed out straight-to-series orders for Arrowverse spinoff Superman & Lois, as well as Jared Padalecki’s Walker, Texas Ranger reimagining. Superman & Lois will star Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as they reprise their Arrowverse roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, and deal with the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society. Former Flash showrunner Todd Helbing will write the series, while Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will produce the series. Geoff Johns will serve as executive producer. A premiere date has not been determined. Find out more at The Hollywood Reporter.
– In other television news, Deadline reports that Batwoman and Harley Quinn have been acquired by British broadcaster Channel 4. Batwoman and Harley Quinn will broadcast on Channel 4’s youth network E4 in 2020. As a result, Batwoman is the only Arrowverse show, and the only part of the CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” that will not be broadcast on Sky One.
– ComingSoon.net reports that Warner Bros. Pictures’ Joker will return to more than 750 cinemas across North America beginning Friday, January 17. Joker took in over $1 billion worldwide in its initial run to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, and has amassed 11 Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations — including Best Picture — more than any other film this year. The movie is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital.
– Finally, developer Crystal Dynamics announced that Marvel’s Avengers won’t make its previously announced May release date, with the superhero action game delayed by nearly four months until September 4. They said “we will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve.” Marvel’s Avengers is the second Square Enix-published game to be delayed this week, following Final Fantasy VII Remake. Marvel’s Avengers is in development for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia.
