– Tom Taylor and Andy Kubert are sending Batman soul-searching in “Batman: The Dark Knight.” The six-issue murder mystery comic will take the hero across Europe as he reckons with his past and goes up against a new villain, Equilibrium, with the help of an unknown aide (hinted at being “Batman Incorporated’s” Knight or Squire). “This series is a different take on the character than I had done before,” said Kubert. “‘Batman: The Dark Knight’s’ Batman is hardened and thick, the years and battles have caught up with him … And Tom writes it all so perfectly.” “Batman: The Dark Knight” #1 releases April 13 with a cover by Kubert.

– DC Comics’s upcoming “Green Lantern” ongoing series from writer Geoffrey Thorne will feature the return of DC’s two newest Green Lanterns, Keli Quintela (a.k.a Teen Lantern) and Jo Mullein (of “Far Sector” fame), under the pen of new series artist Dexter Soy. The series stars John Stewart, and will sit alongside Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp’s ongoing “Green Lantern: Season Two,” tying more closely to the contemporary ‘Infinite Frontier’ relaunch. The series was originally set to feature the pencils of Tom Raney, who is collaborating with Thorne on the ‘Last Lantern’ story in “Future State: Green Lantern.” “Green Lantern” #1 releases April 6. We’ll have more on DC’s April solicitations in our Soliciting Multiversity column next week.

– The next adventure of the Avengers has been revealed, with “Avengers” #45 exiting ‘Enter the Phoenix’ and telling a ‘King in Black’ tie-in story featuring Blade, Namor and an army of vampires against Knull, god of the void. The issue will feature the art of Luca Maresca alongside regular series writer Jason Aaron, and cover artist Cory Smith.

THR have a new swathe of details on the upcoming AWA series “The Resistance: Uprising,” spinning out of J. Michael Straczynski’s post-pandemic superhero story “The Resistance.” “Where volume one of ‘The Resistance’ had a very global point of view … ‘The Resistance: Uprising’ is a bit more centered in the United States,” said Straczynski. “Once again the book has significant echoes of what we’ve all been living through during this time. From government attacks on peaceful protesters, to a President ginning up his own personal army to help ensure his own survival against calls for his removal, on and on, the book once again is absolutely relevant to the present moment.” The comic begins April 7 with art by C.P. Smith, click here for cover art and three pages of previews.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is changing format from a 4-part miniseries to a single film, according to director Zack Snyder. The picture will retain its 4-hour runtime and remains unlikely to receive a theatrical release. The director’s cut will be released on HBO Max sometime in March.

– Lonnie Nadler, the writer behind “Black Stars Above,” ‘Age of X-Man’ and more, announced a short film he wrote and co-produced, The Mother of Beauty, has been picked up for distribution. The thriller, directed by Nick Meunier directing and starring Tristan Risk, follows artist Helena, who uses the remains of animals for her works, after the birth of her firstborn child and the strain it brings. The short film will be distributed by ShortsTV US, and was a selection at the Badass Film Festival.

– Actor Ethan Hawke has joined the cast of Disney+’s Moon Knight as its central antagonist. While no character role has been released as of yet, Hawke will be joining co-stars Oscar Isaac (playing the titular hero) and May Calamawy. This will be Hawke’s first comic book film role, after having written a graphic novel, “Indeh: A Story of the Apache Wars,” in 2016.

– Finally, the trailer for the English release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train has dropped, promising a shared release date for both the subbed and dubbed versions of the film in early 2021. The film follows Tanjiro on a surreal adventure through the unconscious on a train under threat from the formidable demon Enmu.
