In case you missed it yesterday, Christopher Sebela and Jen Hickman are teaming for a new series called “Test,” over at Vault Comics, Dark Horse will publish a “The Orville” series, and Sarah Mirk announced an oral history of Guantanamo Bay called “Guantánamo Voices.”

– Kicking off, Heavy Metal Magazine and the band Megadeth are teaming for a graphic anthology ahead of the release of the band’s 35th anniversary greatest hits album Warheads on Foreheads. The graphic anthology is called “Death By Design” and is being curated by the band’s co-founder Dave Mustaine, and will give insight into the universe of Megadeth and the band’s mascot Vic Rattlehead. Creators attached to the book include Ben Templesmith, Tim Seeley, Alex de Campi, and Frazer Irving. You can check out the book when it’s released June 5th, and more preview pages and details here.

– Bethany Buck is set to launch a children’s imprint as editor-in-chief called Pixel+Ink for Trustbridge Global Media, parent company of Holiday House and Peachtree Publishing. The imprint is set to feature picture books, chapter books, middle grade, and graphic novels, with the debut book being a middle-grade graphic novel called “Black Sand Beach” from creator Richard Fairgray. The book is set to launch in 2020, and the imprint is set to publish between 12-15 titles next year.

– DC Comics is beginning its celebration of the 80th anniversary of the creation of Batman next month with the publication of “Detective Comics” #1000. In addition to the “Tec” milestone, DC is set to celebrate the Bat at SXSW in Austin this month with 1.5 million bats flying from Austin’s Congress bridge. The company has also detailed plans to have a Bat-Signal light up major cities across the world on Batman Day (September 21st) this year. – Vault Comics and Blind Squirrel Games are teaming for comics based on their recently announced video game Drifters. While not much is known about the game or the comics at this point, Vault tweeted that Michael Moreci, Tim Seeley, and Eliot Rahal were attached to the project. – In casting news, Adrienne Barbeau has announced she will appear in the upcoming Swamp Thing series on the DC Universe streaming service. The actress previously starred as Alice Cable in the Swamp Thing movie 37 years ago. The series is set to debut in May 2019.

– In more casting news, Galavant actress Karen David has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming fifth season of Fear The Walking Dead. David is set to play a character named Grace, though not much else is known at this point. The season will debut sometime later this year.

– Ahead of the release of Captain Marvel today, Marvel and the rock band Nine Inch Nails have teamed up for a limited edition t-shirt combining the band and Captain Marvel’s symbols. The movie takes place in the ’90s ahead of current events in the MCU, and also a decade during which NIN was quite popular. You can find our review of the movie here.

Matt Davies has become the first person to receive the Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning twice since its inception in 2004, which also happened to be the first year Davies won. The prize is awarded by the Herb Block Foundation, and includes a $15,000 cash prize and trophy that Davies will receive at a reception at the Library of Congress in May. Davies is a cartoonist for Newsday and has also won a Pulitzer Prize and the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism prize over the course of his career.

– Finally, during their annual shareholders meetings, Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced the opening date of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction. The 14-acre Star Wars attraction will open May 31 at Disneyland in Anaheim, and August 29 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. You can read more about it here.
