– AfterShock announced the near-future, sci-fi/horror thriller “Where Starships Go to Die.” Written by Mark Sable with art from Alberto Locatelli, the story follows an African astronaut and an Indian shipping magnate as they set out to recover the wreckage of humanity’s first interstellar starship from the (real life) spacecraft graveyard Point Nemo. “I’ve been excited to tell a sci-fi horror story based on one of the most interesting places on earth, Sable says of the project. “And a really disturbing theory about why we haven’t found extraterrestrial life.” Issue #1 is due out June 8.

– Marvel Entertainment released the first trailer for Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, which confirms the series will premiere on the streaming service June 8. Set to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” the trailer gives us our first glimpses of Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, her redesigned, forcefield-based powers, and a brief appearance of the Ms. Marvel costume proper at the end. And in other Marvel Studios news, the company put out a statement denouncing any anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation, apparently in solidarity with the planned walkouts by Disney staff this week.

Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley will play James T. Kirk in season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. “I am deeply humbled and still a little startled to have been given the honor of playing the inimitable James T Kirk,” Wesley tweeted. “Ever since I was a kid, I have been awed by the imaginative world Gene Roddenberry created.” Strange New Worlds is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on May 5. Season two is currently in production.

– Tying in with the larger event this May, “Dark Crisis: Young Justice” will see Wonder Girl attempt to rescue Superboy, Impulse, and Tim Drake from “the world of their dreams, one they may never want to leave.” The six-issue miniseries will be written by Meghan Fitzmartin, with art from Laura Braga. Issue #1 is due out June 21.

– “Deadlands: The Devil’s Six Gun” and “Green Lantern Corps” writer David Gallaher has launched a GoFundMe following a brutal assault. “On March 4th of this year, I was assaulted in the streets of Park Slope in the middle of the afternoon trying to call 911 to prevent a 13-year old girl from being assaulted,” he writes. “A gang of kids punched me, threw trash at me, and pelted me with rocks.” While insurance covered the initial ER visit, Gallagher is asking fans for assistance for further medical bills, court fees, and loss of work. As of this writing $4,145 has been raised towards the $6,150 goal.

– Christine Larsen‘s Orcs will return in this summer’s “Orcs! The Curse.” Hitting shelves in June 2022 from BOOM! Studios imprint KaBOOM!, the second four-issue series will see an ancient evil being accidentally freed during a victory party, and a wizard looking for an army.

– “Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace” and “Another Castle” writer Andrew Wheeler has scripted a new five-issue miniseries set in the competitive world of varsity tug-of-war. “Love and War,” as the series is called, will also feature art from Killian Ng and Guillermo Saavedra, lettering by Aditya Bidikar and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and colors by C.R. Chua. Issue #1 will be available digitally as a comiXology Original on April 12, with a print edition coming from Dark Horse this September.

– Opus Publishing are bringing classic ’80s duo Bill and Ted back to comics with “Bill and Ted Roll the Dice” #1. Due out on June 14, the book will see the pair return to Hell, and forced to play a Dungeons & Dragons-style tabletop RPG to save their souls. “Quantum and Woody’s” James Asmus will write, with “Orphan Black’s” Wayne Nichols providing art. John Barber (“Back to the Future”) and Andrew Currie (“Doctor Who”) will provide backups about Bogus Journey villain Chuck De Nomolos. Opus’s parent company Incendium Online has also released action figures based on the franchise.

– Writer David M. Booher and artist Drew Zucker will take a side journey back into the world of “Canto” with IDW’s two-part “Canto: Tales of the Unnamed World.” They will be joined by guest artists Liana Kangas, Jorge Corona, and Shawn Daley. “We’ve always had fun going on Canto’s side quests,” Booher says of the book. “From ‘Canto & the Clockwork Fairies’ to ‘Canto & the City of Giants,’ these mini-adventures give us the chance to explore Canto’s world.” The two-part miniseries is due out this June, before “Canto IV: A Place Like Home” drops this fall.

– Finally, here’s two June release announcements from Marvel: in celebration of Pride Month, the publisher has announced “Marvel’s Voices: Pride” #1, due out June 15, celebrating both LGBTQI+ creators and characters from the House of Ideas. The collection will feature stories written by Christopher Cantwell, Alyssa Wong, Grace Freud, and more, as well as art from Stephen Byrne, Brittney Williams, Scott B. Henderson, and others to be named later. Last year’s “Marvel Voices: Pride” breakout character Somnus will receive a new story from New York Times-bestselling and multi-award-winning author Charlie Jane Anders. June will also see the release of the “X-Men: Hellfire Gala” one-shot on the 29th. Gerry Duggan will script the 72-page book, with art from Russell Dauterman, Matteo Lolli, C.F. Villa, and Kris Anka. It will see the debut of the new X-Men line up and fan vote winner, while setting up the upcoming ‘Judgment Day’ event.
