– ComiXology have announced the new supernatural series “Cold Iron.” Via IGN, the comiXology Original comes from writer Andy Diggle, artist Nick Brokenshire, colorist Triona Farrell, and letterer Simon Bowland. The four-issue limited series draws on Celtic and Viking mythology for a thriller set on the Isle of Man. The story follows an aspiring musician named Kay on the night of Hop-tu-Naa (also known as Celtic Halloween). When Kay rescues a woman named Mona, the two find themselves hunted by a malevolent force. “Cold Iron” strikes Amazon Prime and comiXology Unlimited on May 10.

– Dark Horse will publish Melissa Capriglone’s new YA LGBTQIA+ graphic novel “Basil and Oregano” this fall. Billed as “Great British Bake-Off meets a magical boarding school,” “Basil and Oregano” takes place at the Porta Bella Magiculinary Academy, the “finest school for the art of cooking with magic.” The story follows Basil Eyres and Arabella Oregano, who are instantly smitten with each other in their senior year at the Academy. When Arabella’s secret surfaces, Basil must make “the hardest decision of her life, which has the potential to throw her future aspirations in jeopardy.” “Basil and Oregano” cooks up its debut on September 7.

– Cullen Bunn and Andrea Mutti’s horror series “Parasomnia” is returning. Via The Beat, “Parasomnia: The Dreaming God” from Bunn, Mutti, and letterer Simon Bowland picks up the torch from the previous miniseries, as the hero’s hunt for his son takes him from a Lovecraftian nightmare world into a cyberpunk metropolis. “This is a book that will play with your expectations,” Bunn said as part of the book announcement. “There’s no way (yet) to guess where this story will take you.” “Parasomnia: The Dreaming God” #1 hits shelves on August 17.

– Writer Jeff Parker and artist Mike Norton will launch a new Ninjak series for Valiant next year, but you can get a first look at their plans this Saturday as part of Free Comic Book Day. Via ComicBook.com, “Ninjak Superkillers” finds Ninjak facing off against a team of superpowered killers in a “globe-trotting noir” story. Parker and Norton will have a Ninjak story in Valiant’s Free Comic Book Day issue this weekend, alongside stories setting up future tales with Archer and Armstrong, X-O Manowar, Shadowman, and Bloodshot. “Ninjak Superkillers” will take off in February 2023, but you can catch a first look this Saturday, May 7.

– Scholastic is teaming up with Kaepernick Publishing for “Dreamer,” a graphic memoir from Calgary Flames hockey player Akim Aliu. Via ICv2, Aliu will partner with writer Greg Anderson Elysee and artist Karen De la Vega to tell his story of growing up in Nigeria and Ukraine, before moving to Canada and getting drafted into the NHL at age 18. Kaepernick Publishing, founded by football player and activist Colin Kaepernick, has previously partnered with Scholastic for the best-selling picture book “I Color Myself Different” from Kaepernick and artist Eric Wilkerson. “Dreamer” will publish on February 7, 2023.

– Dark Horse Comics is publishing a new library edition of their comics based on the TV series The Orville. The stories come from The Orville executive producer David A. Goodman, with art by David Cabeza and colors by Michael Atiyeh. The library edition collects stories set in between seasons of the show, including the season 1.5 stories ‘New Beginnings’ and ‘The Word of Avis,’ and the season 2.5 stories ’Launch Day’ and ‘Digressions.’ The 280-page oversized “The Orville Library Edition” Volume 1 takes off for comic stores on October 5, and bookstores on October 18.

– DC and Warner Bros. Animation have unveiled the voice cast for this summer’s Green Lantern: Beware My Power, which will tell the story of John Stewart’s induction into the Green Lantern Corps. Via The Beat, actor Aldis Hodge will be taking on the title role for a story that finds Stewart contending with the Sinestro Corps and the Rann/Thanagar War. Joining Stewart on his quest will be Green Arrow (Jimmi Simpson), Martian Manhunter (Ike Amadi), Adam Strange (Brian Bloom), and Hawkgirl (Jamie Gray Hyder). Green Lantern: Beware My Power soars to 4K, Blu-ray and digital on July 26.

– Finally, NBC have ordered the Quantum Leap sequel pilot to series. Via The Hollywood Reporter, the revival, starring Raymond Lee, Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee, will follow a team who revive the Quantum Leap project in the hopes of uncovering its secrets, and Dr. Sam Beckett’s whereabouts. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are the showrunners, and the original show’s creator, Don Bellisario, will also executive produce. Scott Bakula is not expected to reprise the role of Beckett at the time of writing. The show will premiere sometime during the 2022-23 fall schedule.
