In case you missed it, DC have announced “DCeased: Hope at World’s End,” the newest addition to their Digital First lineup from Tom Taylor and co; Image Comics announced new series “Big Girls” from writer and artist Jason Howard; Heavy Metal announced Norse mythology series “Sun Eater,” written by actor Dylan Sprouse with Joe Harris, and art by Diego Yapur; and BOOM! Studios announced new six-issue series “Mega Man: Fully Charged,” based on the video game character’s TV series.

– Manchester Arts Centre HOME announced a new weekly comic strip from artist and illustrator Nick Burton, titled “Our Plague Year.” The comic strip will explore human behavior and self-isolation during the bubonic plague in the Derbyshire village of Eyam. The comic is a retelling of life in Eyam when the community decides to quarantine themselves and prevent the spread of the disease. The series will be available on HOME’s website every Friday from May 29. Email subscribers will receive the strip two days early, every Wednesday.
– BOOM! Studios have released their schedule for new comics going on sale in July 2020. Among these are “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” #15, “Something is Killing the Children” #8, “Once & Future” #9, “Firefly” #17, and more. See the full schedule here.
– Marvel also revealed an updated list of planned titles that will release between the weeks of July 15-29. The schedule includes Marvel’s summer ‘Empyre’ event, which kicks off July 15. See the full schedule here.
– Ruby Rose, the star of The CW’s Batwoman, has announced she is leaving the show after one season. The series, already renewed for a second season, will recast the title role. Neither Rose or the show’s producers offered reasons for the unexpected exit, but sources indicate it was not related to the stunt injury Rose faced during the shooting of season 1. Season 2 of Batwoman has been delayed until January 2021 due to the COVID-19-induced production shutdown.
– Netflix have released the first trailer for the upcoming film The Last Days of American Crime, an adaptation of the Image Comic series by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini. The film follows Graham Bricke as he teams up with Kevin Cash and Shelby Dupree to commit a heist before a government broadcast prevents all crime. The film stars Edgar Ramírez, Michael C. Pitt, Anna Brewster, Patrick Bergin, and Sharlto Copley, and is directed by Oliver Megaton. It is set to release on Netflix on June 5.
– Director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball, Beyond the Lights) has released a poster for her upcoming Netflix film, The Old Guard, and that the first trailer will drop tomorrow. The film is an adaptation of the 2017 Image Comics series by writer Greg Rucka and artist Leandro Fernández, and centers around a group of immortal mercenaries who go on a mission to contact another like them who have just found out about their immortality. Starring Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film is set to start streaming on July 10th.
– TidalWave Productions are releasing a fictional, satirical comic book series featuring Stormy Daniels as a superhero. The series is titled “Stormy Daniels: Space Force,” and is set to release this fall. TidalWave describes the series as a “racy comedy, action, and adventure series.” The publisher is also releasing an updated bio comic titled “Female Force: Stormy Daniels” this Wednesday.
– Finally, amidst the ongoing pandemic, Bane masks from The Dark Knight Rises have become a popular choice for those looking for any kind of face-covering they can find. Costume shops have reported that they are sold out, but Etsy shops have taken to selling cloth versions, which of course, are not medical grade.
