– Via The Beat, “The House” by Phillip Sevy and Drew Zucker, with colors by Jen Hickman and letters by Frank Cvetkovic, will be released through Dark Horse. Originally published digitally and subsequently in a Kickstarter printing, “The House” tells a horrific story set during the Battle of the Bulge, following a squadron of US soldiers who seek shelter in an abandoned house during a blizzard. “Once inside, however, the doors disappear, rooms begin to morph, exits become entrances, and they quickly realize there is no safety to be found! As their eyes deceive them, their minds descend into madness, panic, and paranoia.” “The House” will be available in the fall.

– In a press release, Red 5 Comics have announced “The Box” by Joshua Starnes and Raymond Estrada. The solicit reads, “Leo Bloom is a private detective. His partner is a Box. A magic Box from which he can take whatever he can imagine … some of the time. But when he’s framed for the kidnapping of a prominent scholar Leo suspects a plot to take his prized possession from him. Can he find out before either the police or the Mafia find him?” “The Box” #1 (of 4) will be available August 18, 2021.

– Via Newsarama, Z2 Comics have announced the original graphic novel “Uzo.” Written by singer/actor Jason Derulo and Anthony Piper, with art by Eric Koda, “Uzo” is a story set in a distant future where Earth is turned into a frozen wasteland after a mysterious asteroid crashes on the surface. As the last gasps of humanity fight over dwindling resources, a man named Uzo becomes “the last hope for both his village and the planet.” “Uzo” is expected to release in October.

– The CW is moving a slew of shows to new nights for the upcoming season, including new spots for Riverdale, which is being paired with The Flash, and Batwoman, with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow moving back to the fall after a midseason experiment. Nine series are being kept for midseason including Naomi, the third season of DC’s Stargirl, and the second season of Superman & Lois. The announcement also revealed the eighth season of The Flash will begin with a five-part event, guest starring many other Arrowverse superheroes.

Furthermore, The CW has lined up three original specials for the fourth quarter of 2021, including the animated Beebo Saves Christmas. The hour-long event will see Beebo and his friends traveling to the North Pole to help discover what truly makes Christmas meaningful, while Sprinkles, an efficiency-obsessed elf, decides that Christmas would run better without Santa Claus. Ben Diskin will voice Beebo, while former Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber (who played Martin Stein) will play the narrator. The other specials will be the made-for-TV movie The Waltons’ Homecoming, and The Scooby Doo Reunion Special. Dates and times will be announced later.

– Via Anime News Network, as part of the 50th anniversary for the Lupin The Third anime, a new series, entitled Lupin The Third Part Six, will premiere in Japan in October. The Gentleman Thief and his crew first appeared in a manga series in the 1960s, and debuted on TV on October 24, 1971. Recently, Lupin and his gang received an animated film that debuted in 2019, Lupin The Third: The First, which can currently be viewed digitally following its home release. The new anime will be produced by TMS Entertainment.

– Via ComicBook.com, Sentai Filmworks confirmed that Vinland Saga will be hitting Blu-ray on August 31st with both English and Japanese dubs. The anime, based on Makoto Yukimura’s original manga series, debuted in 2019, but its release outside of Japan was limited to Amazon Prime Video, and only featured Japanese audio with English language subtitles.

– Finally, New York City Mayoral Candidate Andrew Yang released a statement via Twitter responding to a New York Daily News political cartoon illustrated by Bill Bramhall. The cartoon depicts a caricatured Yang emerging from the Times Square subway station, and two shop workers labeling him as a tourist. Yang’s statement said, “Images of Asians have beady, slanted eyes and buck teeth have been a part of the American consciousness for a long time. It’s grounded in a history of casting immigrants and children of immigrants as perpetual foreigners or even subhuman – a stereotype which has been used to divide and exclude people for hundreds of years.” He adds, “every time you say I’m not a real New Yorker, you’re telling another Asian American that they don’t belong… I will say clearly that all New Yorkers belong.” Josh Greenman, the editorial page editor for New York Daily News, defended the cartoon, but admitted it would be altered for the print edition.
