– Yesterday, Aftershock Comics announced “Fu Jitsu,” a new series written by Jai Nitz (“Dream Thief”) and illustrated by Wes St. Clair (“Teen Titans” 2014 Annual). The story follows ‘the world’s smartest boy who cannot age,’ and who protects the Earth from the ‘world’s tallest man.’ Nitz specifically mentioned that the book is specifically designed for the comics medium, and there are no plans on attempting a film or television adaption. The first issue drops this September.

– Valiant Comics has teamed up with Ninja Theory Games to create a tie-in comic to the upcoming Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice game. The comic, which is only available to folks who pre-order the game, is illustrated by Ben Templesmith, and is created without panels, gutters, or other organizational tools that comics often use to aide in reading. “We’ve been consulting with these various different groups over the last couple years to try to represent what [psychosis] look like and feel like as best we can,” Tameem Antoniades of Ninja Theory said. The final date to pre-order is August 8.

– The CW added a new cast member to the next season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in American Odyssey‘s Tala Ashe. Ashe will be playing Zari Adrianna Tomaz, aka Isis, described as a “Muslim-American woman from the year 2030.” Isis debuted as part of DC’s television lineup in the late 70s, opposite Captain Marvel on the Saturday morning The Shazam/Isis Hour, and later had her own short-lived comics series. Most recently, Isis was a major player in the Black Adam-centric parts of “52” in 2007.

– In what seems like a terrible, terrible idea, Cowboy Bebop is getting an American, live action remake, written by comics veteran (and Thor: The Dark World screenwriter) Chris Yost. We don’t have enough space to properly list why this will probably be a bad idea.

– The Titans TV series, previously announced as one of the premiere programs on DC’s new streaming service, will reportedly start shooting this fall in Atlanta, GA. No cast has been named yet, though DC COO Geoff Johns is reportedly working on scripts for the series.

– IDW’s “Jem and the Holograms” series is ending this month with issue #26, and the creative team of Kelly Thompson and Gisèle Lagacé stopped by CBR to talk abotu the series, the future of the property, and more.

– Entertainment Weekly, in a video about Marvel’s film and television prospects for the next year and a half, seemingly confirmed new seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage for 2018. While these were long rumored and expected, this is the first real confirmation of next year having new seasons of all three shows. Suspiciously absent is Iron Fist, though that might just be wishful thinking.

– And, finally, colorist – and longtime collaborator of Steve Dillon – Matthew Hollingsworth recently homebrewed – and entered into competition – a beer inspired by and named for Dillon. ‘Dillon’ is a seven-month aged Imperial Stout. Dillon would surely be proud of the tribute.
