– Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda’s “Monstress, Volume 2: The Blood” won the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story: Takeda also received the Hugo for Best Professional Artist. This marks the second year in a row the Image Comics title has won the award. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman was named the Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, of 2017. You can read the full list of winners here.

– Marvel confirmed that this November’s 20th anniversary Marvel Knights project is a six-issue miniseries, and not a relaunch of the whole line (as was implied at San Diego Comic-Con). The comic, written by Donny Cates, Matthew Rosenberg, Tini Howard, and Vita Ayala, will have Travel Foreman (“Tales of Suspense”) and Niko Henrichon (“Pride of Baghdad”) respectively on art for the first and second issues.

– HBO announced that the Watchmen TV pilot, written by Damon Lindelof and directed by Nicole Kassel, has been picked up for a full series premiering in 2019. The show, starring Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson and Louis Gossett Jr., will be a modern take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s classic limited series.

– Lucasfilm released the first trailer for Star Wars Resistance, the new cel-shaded animated series set before The Force Awakens. The show will premiere with an hour-long opening episode on Disney Channel on October 7, before the series begin airing in due course on Disney XD.

– Steven Ogg (Simon on The Walking Dead) has joined the cast of TNT’s Snowpiercer. He will play Pike, an escaped convict who has become a leader of the people living in the tail section of the titular giant train that circles the globe. The show, based on Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film adaptation of the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige,” will also star Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.

– Speaking of France, the Agence France-Presse have a story on the newfound popularity of comic books about wine in the country. They interviewed winemaker Romain Sou, co-founder of the festival BD & Vin (“drawn strips and wine”) near Bordeaux, who said “I love graphic novels and I love wine and so do most of my friends. But ten years ago when we started, it wasn’t at all obvious that there would be a thirst for BDs about wine.”

– Marvel Music released Black Panther: Wakanda Remixed, a digital EP containing five remixed tracks of Ludwig Göransson’s score from the movie.

– On Friday, following the announcement that “East of West” is ending, we asked you to vote for your favorite creator-owned Jonathan Hickman comic. The winner was “East of West,” followed by “The Manhattan Projects” and “The Black Monday Murders.”
