– First up, in an interview with Newsarama, Scott Snyder revealed that Will Payton, the version of Starman created by Roger Stern and Tom Lyle, will feature prominently in his “Justice League” run starting with September’s “Justice League” #8. Snyder and Newsarama discuss Starman’s brief role in “Metal” and how he and other characters like the Challengers of the Unknown and Hawkman are connected to the Totality that the League faced in the first arc. Snyder said, “They’ve been trying to figure out what the Multiverse wants to be. What is its core? What is its origin? Who made us? What do they expect of us?” He added, “I mean, ‘Metal’ is a self-standing story that we’re really proud of. But it really was intended as a launch pad for a lot of ideas and a lot of story that we’re going to be weaving in for the next year and a half to two years.” “Justice League” #8 hits comic book shelves on September 19, 2018, and will be written by James Tynion IV with art by Mikel Janin.

– At Atlanta’s Dragon Con, Jason Aaron and James Harren won the Dragon Award for Best Comic Book with “Mighty Thor,” while Brandon Sanderson, Rik Hoskin, and Julius M. Gopez’s “White Sand” Vol. 1 won Best Graphic Novel. Black Panther won Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Movie, and Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray was named Best Media Tie-In Novel. You can read the full list of winners here.

– CBR reports that independent comics publisher Alterna Comics, founded in 2008, has changed its code of conduct in regards to block chain applications on social media platforms. The new code of conduct states that “we do not condone the use of block bots/blind blocking/block chains or any other kind of program or practice that is used to block thousands of people, blindly, en masse,” and that creators “are required and encouraged to actively promote your title on social media.” The code of conduct change has been met with much criticism from creators as some of them use these block chain applications to curb online harassment. Some also argue that Alterna is putting monetary gain over creator safety.

– Tom King recently chatted with CBR to reveal that he and Joelle Jones have been coordinating when and how Batman and Catwoman will reunite after the divisive conclusion to “Batman” #50. “That’s going to be a pinnacle and hopefully a moment that I write well…” said King. King discusses his approach to structuring his story, comparing where it’s at right now to the point in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the Nazis have found the Ark. He also goes into detail about The New York Times spoiling “Batman” #50 ahead of its release.

Deadline reports Jennifer Esposito has been cast as CIA Agent Susan Raynor in Amazon’s straight-to-series superhero drama The Boys. Esposito, who will appear in five episodes this season, joins Karl Urban, Elizabeth Shue, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Kapon, Erin Moriarty and many more. The Boys is based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and follows a group of vigilantes known as ‘The Boys’ who intend to take down corrupt superheroes. Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are set to direct.

– Deadline also reported that Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has joined the cast of DC Universe’s Doom Patrol as Eric Morden, better known as Mr. Nobody. After having experiments performed on him by ex-Nazis, “Eric Morden emerges as a living shadow able to drain the sanity of others as the enigmatic, and totally insane, Mr. Nobody.” Tudyk Joins Brendan Fraser (Robotman), April Bowlby (Elasti-Girl), Diane Guerrero (Crazy Jane), and Joivan Wade (Cyborg) in the new series. Doom Patrol follows DC’s weirdest superheroes as they navigate the strangest corners of the DC Universe. Geoff Johns will serve as an executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. Television.

– Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade) has joined the voice cast of The Addams Family animated movie from MGM. Based on the work of cartoonist Charles Addams that was adapted into several TV shows, movies, and a Broadway musical, the new movie follows the macabre family as they face off against a reality TV host in the midst of an extended family reunion. Fisher joins Oscar Isaac (Gomez), Charlize Theron (Morticia), Chloe Grace Moretz (Wednesday), Finn Wolfhard (Pugsley), Nick Kroll (Uncle Fester), Bette Midler (Grandmother Addams) and Allison Janney (Margaux Needler).
