Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Cartoon Network will be bringing back the Justice League to their airwaves. Justice League Action will be an 11-minute animated program featuring a “rotating roster of capes,” led by Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Most exciting from this is Kevin Conroy returning to voice the Dark Knight and Mark Hamill — who’s maybe getting comfortable returning to his older roles — taking on the Joker.
– After the insane lead up to the Angoulême International Comics Festival, the ceremony finally happened on Saturday night, but not without one final middle finger. A few recipients were called to the stage, only to be given a piece of fake chocolate and the “Faux Fauves.” Apparently it’s some sort of hazing ritual; Comics Beat is the only publication to go in-depth into covering the thing. After that sort of dickish display, the real awards were handed out. Richard McGuire’s superb “Here” took home the Fauve D’or for Best Album, while “Ms. Marvel” from G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona was honored with Best Series. Wilson was the only female creator to win all night. See here for a full list of winners.
– This is cool: Sloane Leong (“From Under Mountains”) discusses blending sports — specifically basketball — and comics in her project, “Maps to the Suns.” The comic will be serialized on Zainab Akhtar’s Web site, Comics & Cola.
– Because they already have everything, Walmart (which my phone autocorrects to the Evil Store of Evil) will soon start stocking comics on their shelves. The corporation struck a deal with Diamond Distributors (literally the worst) to bring manga and trade collections to the retail overlord. 50 select stores will serve as testers before the corporation decides whether or not to expand to all locations. Local comic store owners are noticeably and rightfully upset. “You will be giving them a deal you’d never give the hard working brick and mortar retailers that have stood by you for 30+ years,” says Dennis Barger of Wonderworld Comics.
– Etelka Lehoczky over at NPR has assembled a nice sampler of webcomics you might want to check out.
– CW has officially ordered a pilot for Riverdale, a TV adaptation of Archie Comics. Executive produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow0 and written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale promises to be a “surprising and subversive take on” the Archie gang. Honestly, I just want Aguirre-Sacasa to get back to “Sabrina”.
– On Friday, we asked if you were going to buy DC’s new Hanna-Barbera Comics?
Most of voters, 40% of participants in fact, said they were only interested in “Future Quest.” 22% said they’ll pick and choose, but will probably pick up more than one.
Still, 21% declare they aren’t going to buy any of these (though they probably will) and two people were confused about who Hanna and Barbera even are. Rocks must be getting great wifi reception these days.
Make sure you check back Friday for our next Weekly Readers’ Poll!
