Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– There’s a Deadpool movie out, and apparently people like it, because it make $135 million over the three-day weekend. It broke Fifty Shades of Grey‘s opening from last year and had the largest opening for an R-rated film. With those two movies as the representatives for big February openings, it probably won’t be long before we see more of this inane mundanity gracing our winter schedules. Actually, at the risk of editorializing, I’ll admit right here that I think Deadpool is a waste of comic shelfspace, but I do think Ryan Reynolds was perfect for the part. It’s rare to see an actor so perfectly embody a role.

– DC’s variant cover theme for May will be callbacks to the covers of the continuing series that started with the New 52. Check them out here. Honestly, they all sort of look like they were dashed off in a half hour. Worst of all: “Wonder Woman” and that DC’s not even trying to hide the fact anymore that going from Cliff Chiang to David Finch was a massive downgrade in quality. Maybe it’s a good thing they’re planning to relaunch everything again or something?

– Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment released a new trailer for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

– Ooooooooooooohhh, here’s a preview of Ben Sears’s forthcoming book from Koyama Press, “Night Air”. It’s part of the “Double+” series, which includes “Double+” and “The Gleaming Corridor”. Both stories are well worth your time and it looks like “Night Air” is going to be in full color.

– Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt sat down to talk about Kindt’s upcoming series, “Dept H”. These two are good friends and this conversation feels like you’re hanging out with the coolest people at a Drink ‘n Draw. Kindt’s “MIND MGMT” series was a constant favorite at Multiversity.

– On Friday we asked, Which Flash is your favorite? Well the results are in and the winner is Wally West, with 46% of the vote, with Barry Allen trailing right behind with 41%. Jay Garrick also grabbed some attention, while Flash Thompson and Teri Magnus both have their audience. Apparently no one really likes Bart Allen.

Make sure to check back this Friday for our next Weekly Readers’ Poll!
