Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– JK Simmons told Entertainment Tonight that he’s open to coming back as J. Jonah Jameson for the Marvel Studios version of Spider-Man. Simmons would, naturally, steal the show if he came back as Jameson in the 2017 film since he’s so darn good at the character, but hpoefully there’d be something more to it. Like Jameson turning out to be the sole survivior of the Raimi universe after the post-credits scene of him cradling the corpse of Tobey Maguire he keeps in his office.
– In news I have yet to fully accept, WWE just straight up bought the rights to the 2007 movie about surfing penguins, Surf’s Up so they could make a sequel about themselves. Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania features whatever the name of the penguin from the first movie was teaming up with penguin versions of Triple H, John Cena, and The Undertaker. If this news proves anything, it’s that my nightmares have found a way to manifest into the material realm.
– Hey Stephen King fans! – Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey are your new Roald and The Man in Black for the upcoming Dark Tower film. I have literally no problems with this. I don’t have any problems with anything involving Idris Elba. If he was cast in Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania I’d just nod and pre-order my ticket.
– There’s going to be an online video game tie-in to Batman v. Superman where players solve the grisly murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents. Because it’s 2016 and no one just does tie-ins with Lego sets anymore?
– Marvel is going to release a new “Vote Loki” series where the god of mischief enters the 2016 election. As much as I’m cautiously optimistic for Marvel to do something vaguely (i.e. not at all) political, I reviewed “Wynonna Earp” #1 last week so it’s going to take a little bit more than that to shock me.
