Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the weekend. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Warner Bros. has ordered reshoots for their upcoming Suicide Squad movie. The current speculation is that they’re asking for more jokes and humor into the picture, following the positive response to the “Bohemian Rhapsody”-backed trailer. And while a less dour tone might be more welcome, usually nothing good comes out of studio-mandated meddling.

– The Preacher TV series is about to drop soon, and AMC is starting to rev up their promo engines. They’ve released a new, short teaser of the series, adapted from a Garth Ennis/Steve Dillon Vertigo comic, and produced by Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin. The show stars Dominic Cooper, Joseph Gilgun, Lucy Griffiths, and Ian Colietti.

– Congratulations to “Lumberjanes” for winning Outstanding Comic Book at the 2016 GLAAD Media Awards. The series, published by Boom! Box, beat out “Angela: Queen of Hel,” “Harley Quinn,” “Midnighter,” and “The Wicked + The Divine”.

– Prepare yourself, because Vladimir Putin is invading. This April, the Russian president will make his comic book debut in “Divinity II” where he manipulates a “60s-era cosmonaut who has returned to Earth from deep space with super powers and a desire to build a new Soviet empire.” The issue is written by Matt Kindt with art by Trevor Hairsine.

– Speaking of crazy people with lots of power: Mark Peters at Salon has rounded up eight evil comic book presidents who look/act like Donald Drumpf Trump. At the risk of editorializing, I feel any of these people would take umbrage with being compared to the entertainment tycoon.

– Last year, Fantagraphics published “The Complete Wimmen’s Comix,” a giant, multi-volume compendium of 60s underground comix. The Comics Journal has assembled an oral history of the movement, featuring voices like Trina Robbins, Lisa Lyons, Patricia Moodian, and Lora Fountain, among others. It’s a truly interesting look back at the era, the creative process, and the idea of taking no more shit from anyone and diving into something.

– The divisive Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (or as I call it, Tyrannical Batman & First Order Superman: Making a New World Order) had a sharp drop in box office receipts from its opening weekend. Though still remaining number one, the Zack Snyder-directed movie turned in $52.4 million, a 68% drop, making it one of the biggest box office drops for a superhero film ever. “We’re not concerned with the drop,” a Warner Bros. rep said. “No matter how you slice it, to get to $52 million on any given weekend is an enormous accomplishment.” While the movie is doing fine, it probably won’t cross the $1 billion mark Warner Bros. was hoping for.

– On Friday, we asked which of the DC Rebirth titles you were most looking forward to?, and the results are now in!

The biggest winner was “Wonder Woman” from Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, and Liam Sharp, with 29% of the vote. The Scott Snyder/multi-artist (including John Romita, Jr.; Jock; and PAUL POPE) series, “All-Star Batman” came in second with 13% of the votes, while the Tom King-penned “Batman” with art by Mikel Janin and, for some reason, Dave Fince, took third with 11%. At the time of this writing, no voters seemed too enthused for “Green Lanterns,” “Justice League,” and “Cyborg.”

Make sure to check back Friday for our next Weekly Readers’ Poll!
