Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the weekend. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Warner Bros. continue their ongoing battle to bring Katuhiro Otomo’s “Akira” to the big screen. Never mind that a great film already exists, but since it’s, you know, animated it obviously can’t count. The studio reportedly commissioned a new script about a year ago from Marco J. Ramirez, and now they’re looking to tap Justin Lin as the director. Apparently, a lot of this hinges on whether or not “Space Jam 2” gets made.
– Cyril Pedrosa’s “Equionxes” has been translated into English and will be released through NBM this September. Pedrosa is a French cartoonist who’s also moonlighted on Disney films like “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “Hercules” and his “Equinoxes” series takes place in a world in perfect balance, where the story unfolds with the seasons. Make sure to check the link for some preview art.
– Leanna Garfield at Tech Insider has assembled a list of 16 LGBT superheroes who forever changed superhero comics. It’s a narrow but precise list, and I’m not sure if they all changed the superhero comics scene, but it’s worth a look!
– Faith Erin Hicks joins Veronica Fish, Mark Waid, G. Willow Wilson, and Mahmud Asrar for the “All-New All-Different Avengers Annual” #1. She’ll be contributing a Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl crossover story. Look for it this August. Maybe go read “The Nameless City” again while you’re waiting.
– Finally, on Friday we asked which Dark Horse-reprinted manga is your favorite? Well, the results are in and at the time of this writing:
38% of the participants voted for “Akira”, though the English rights belong to Kodansha now. 15% of participants are fans of “Berserk” while 13% have a fondness for “Lone Wolf and Cub”. “Ghost in the Shell,” “Appleseed,” “Gantz,” and “Cardcaptor Sakura” have their audiences, while no one seems to favor “Chobits,” “Hellsing”, “Bubblegum Crisis”, “Tomie”, or “Oh, My Goddess!” all that much.
