Black Widow Takes on the Box Office

– Looks like almost everyone made it to see Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend. The movie pulled in over $187 million in the United States, which turns out, was only slightly less than the first Avengers movie, but still enough to be the second highest opening of all time. Internationally the movie has made over $626 million, which I think means that superhero movie fans aren’t going to be lacking for movies anytime soon. It makes you wonder how many screens this movie is taking up. After all, it’s 142 minutes, and there’s only so many hours in a day. Good thing there aren’t any other movies out right now.

– Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo just wrapped up another strong arc on “Batman.” In a Q&A chat on DC’s Twitter page (and helpfully summed up by CBR), they tease what they have in store for the character, the city, and probably the whole universe. One thing that had me relieved: Dick Grayson is going back to his spying shenanigans and won’t return quite yet to Gotham.

– The great, great, great Lynda Barry shares the 20 Stages of Reading.

– For those of us complaining about how Black Widow doesn’t have a movie of her own yet, SNL has got you covered.

– Fantagraphics recently reprinted “Inner City Romance” by Guy Colwell. It’s a fascinating relic of the underground era. Over at TCJ, Colwell chats with Matt Seneca about the book and the time period and himself.

– It’s May! Comics and Cola has got you covered for upcoming graphic novels and trades. The one I’m stoked for: “Nimona” in print. (Also, the final “Unwritten” volume comes out this month as well as the next entry in the Carl Barks Donald Duck series.)

– Oh look, it’s the cast of Suicide Squad in costume and everything. But who cares, because here’s also the cast of Star Wars.

– Frank J. Barbiere and Christopher Peterson have a new book from Boom!. It’s called “Broken World”. Boom! has been killing it as a publisher and it’s fantastic to see this talent head their way.

– Brandon Graham storyboarded an episode of Adventure Time with Jesse Moynihan. It’s called “Jermaine” and it destroys.

– And finally, in Webcomics Worth Clicking: I’ve been enjoying the hell out of Jesse Moynihan’s “Forming.” It’s almost 200 pages in, so there’s lots to read. If you have any webcomics you think should be shared, please email us the link at rundown@multiversitycomics.com or in the comments.
