Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– James Stokoe frequently turns in some ridiculously sick art. And while his work on Godzilla has been phenomenal and his occasional Marvel illustrations and one-shots have been a sight to behold, it’s with his own “Orc Stain” where he can really unleash. Fans of the series have been waiting since 2012 to see One-Eye and Zazu pass through Mondo Pass. Well, over at Comics and Cola, Zainab Akhtar not only conducts an insightful and interesting interview, but also reveals a preview of “Orc Stain” #8.

– Ava DuVernay has passed on directing the “Black Panther” movie for Marvel over — what else? —  “creative differences.” I’d rather see DuVernay work on her own projects, which will invariably far more interesting and personal, than the producer-driven, bland, repetitive, and derivative Marvel Studios features.

– Charles Soule and Ron Garney are taking over “Daredevil” from Mark Waid and Chris Samnee as part of the “All-New, All Different Marvel” (featuring mostly the same ole same old). This weekend, Soule tweeted some comments (which CBR rounded up) about his excitement for the book, and also clarified that that isn’t Gambit on the cover, but some new mysterious character….

– Remember Bartkira? Well, he’s back! In trailer form.

– Megalyn Echikunwoke (CSI: Miami, 24has been cast as Vixen for the upcoming animated TV show. She joins Steve Amell and Grant Gustin (who are voicing Green Arrow and The Flash, respectively) for the upcoming series on CW Seed.

– James Robinson responds to criticism for using hate speech in the recent issue of “Airboy.”

– Drawn & Quarterly celebrated their 25th anniversary this year with this massive, gorgeous compendium. Peggy Burns and Tom Devlin chat with Hillary Brown about what’s next for the publisher.

– Craig Fischer gives us a “supercut” of all the “Hawkeye” comics. He’s especially surprised by how much he liked the Fraction/Aja run (which is currently solicited to end on July 17th).

– We were all excited about the Image Expo last Thursday. Old buddy, Matthew Meylikhov, spoke with Eric Stephenson about Image’s…image.

– Speaking of Image, last Friday we asked you what Image Expo announcement you were most excited for, and the majority of you said “The Goddamned” by Jason Aaron and R. M. Guerra. Many of you were excited for the oversized “Black Magick” by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott and “Heartless” from Warren Ellis and Tula Lotay. And who isn’t interested to see “The Private Eye” in print? Make sure you check back this Friday to participate in our next reader poll!

– Finally, in Webcomics Worth Clicking: I’ll admit that I don’t regularly follow “Oglaf,” but when I do check back every few months, it’s like an explosion of insane, fun, crazy, and just all-out bonkers comics. There’s an overarching narrative, but that’s not important as the slew of jokes, some clean, most dirty. Be warned, this site is most decidedly NSFW.
