This episode the guys jump right into the conversation as they talk about the current crop of Vertigo comics and ponder the future of DC’s creator owned line. From there the conversation winds towards The Walking Dead season finale and some other miscellaneous thoughts. Then, 29 minutes in, the guys get to the meat of this week’s talk: The Goon. For over ten years now, Eric Powell has been quietly churning out some of the best comics money can buy. Anything that you love about comics, The Goon has in spades. From humor to horror, levity to drama, character study to monster fights, Powell has the writing chops to do it all. And then there’s the art. This book has such a variety of style and technique that words can’t really do it justice. Needless to say, they’re big fans over at TNI HQ. After that, Mike talks the joys of cheap digital comics and his newly found love of Viz’s Shonen Jump. Plus, Vaughan and Martin’s Private Eye, The Devastator quarterly magazine and lots, lots more!
