The moment it became clear that IDW understood how to make some good Judge Dredd comics I began daydreaming about the prospect of a Psi-Division series. Cassandra Anderson, Mega-City One’s most prominent Psi-Judge, is probably my favorite character in Dredd’s world. Co-created by 2000 AD stalwarts John Wagner and Brian Bolland, Judge Anderson made her first appearance in the 1980 story, “Judge Death.” From there she quickly fell under the stewardship of writer Alan Grant, who has been her primary writer ever since. For twenty years Grant has told Anderson stories spanning from her days as a cadet to current day. Written by current 2000 AD editor-in-chief Matt Smith with art by Carl Critchlow (“Judge Dredd,” “Magic the Gathering,” “Thrud the Barbarian”), “Anderson, Psi-Division” is the tale of a young Judge Anderson during her early days on the force.
