On Friday, we asked our readers what their favorite Thor story from Jason Aaron was. Much like Don Draper, our readers [not] only enjoy the beginnings of things, and so they picked the two biggest entry points into the Aaron Thor saga.
The top vote getter, with 34.7% of the vote, was ‘The God Butcher/God Bomb’ with Esad Ribic and Butch Guice. This was Aaron’s first Thor story, and told three simultaneous stories of Thor throughout different ages. It was bold and interesting and a new approach to the character, and the art was a revelation.
In second place with 22.4% came the first of the Jane Foster-led comics, ‘The Goddess of Thunder/Who Holds the Hammer?’ with Russell Dauterman. Again, this is an original Aaron idea that was executed extremely well, and led to a few years’ worth of interesting and innovative stories, so much so that Thor: Love and Thunder is (in some ways) an adaptation of this story.
And finally, in third place was another Foster story, ‘The Death of the Mighty Thor,’ again with Dauterman, with 18.4%.
Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
