On Friday, we asked our readers to name their favorite ‘greatest hit’ from Image over the last 20 years, roughly what we’ll call the ‘Invincible / Walking Dead’ era. We had some spirited debate among our staff as to what should be included on the list, and our voters had similarly spirited debate, with twelve of the fifteen options getting votes.
But in first place, predictably, “Saga” came in with 18.7%. The Fiona Staples/Brian K. Vaughan series has been a critical and commercial juggernaut since its first issue was released in 2012. While “The Walking Dead” – fourth place, 7.5% – has had a larger cultural impact, among comic readers, “Saga” is clearly tops.
In second place, with 15.9% of the vote, is the Jonathan Hickman/Nick Dragotta title “East of West.” Coming in third was the inspiration for this poll, “Invincible,” with 12.1%.
Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll and, again, if you haven’t checked out any of these series, make sure to do so.
