On Friday, we asked our readers which of the repeated Marvel events was their favorite, inspired by Groundhog Dog. Well, it appears that there was only one real choice.
A staggering 83.3% of our readers selected “Secret Wars” as their favorite of the five options given. This is probably two-folk: one, the original event is seen as the original* company-wide crossover, and two, the revival was not a cash in but a very specifically laid out part of Jonathan Hickman’s “Fantastic Four” run. The secret “Secret Wars” is so clearly a great event that no one even talks about how it has the same name/very basic premise as the original event. Contrast this to the way that folks felt about “Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths” taking that title, and you’ll see just how great “Secret Wars” was.
“Heroes Reborn” took a distant second place with 11.9%, and “Civil War” and “Original Sin” tied for third with a paltry 2.4% each. No one voted for the Clone Saga. You were all correct in that decision.
*Although it came out before “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” it was inspired by the knowledge that DC was doing “Crisis,” but that it was still far enough away for Marvel to get one out first.
