Hi folks! Welcome to our last installment of our recap of Archer’s third season, on the Multiversity Summer TV Binge 2021. This week’s episode is named “Space Race: Part II” and this is the season finale, closing with the resolution of Archer’s (first) mission on space. Let’s dive right in.

1. Reduced gravity

With the team forced to be part of the mission to terraform Mars, they must come up with a plan to free themselves from their imprisonment, defeat the mutineers and get back to earth, and of course, the best plan they come up with is getting Lana naked and wait to get freed by a perv… and it works!

Sadly, Lana’s clothes are destroyed in the confrontation and she has to go naked all around the ship. Also, Archer and the guys tell her that she is “drooping” a little bit, but the reduced gravity is helping her so she shouldn’t be ashamed.

Of course, this affects profoundly Lana, despite being the sexiest agent of ISIS, she still is very insecure about her body, and the whole time she complaints about the fact that she doesn’t feel sexy enough, she even belittles an overweight woman scientist, telling her that “with her body” she shouldn’t be a bitch. Despite being, arguably, an attractive woman, both physically and internally, she still has faults, and her insecurities make her be an asshole with other people.

2. The Taking of the Intrepid

Commanders Drake and Kellogg need the space shuttle where Archer and the rest arrived, to use as a propulsor for the entire space station, thankfully, Malory and Pam are inside, and they will be the ones between the mutineers and their goal.

Well, except that Cheryl is expecting the welcoming party, and now she is determined to be called the queen of mars. Meanwhile, Drake is becoming increasingly unstable and he and Kellogg belittle one of their team members, pressuring him to open the doors.

3. MAAAAAAARS

And suddenly, the doors open! But they had nothing to do, Cheryl opened it to welcome her new subjects, and they are more than happy to have not one but three more women. Fortunately, Archer and the rest of the team surround them, and they are forced to drop their weapons.

But Drake is not willing to go back to earth, where they will be dead soon enough, so he takes Pam’s gun and shots himself in the name of Mars, and with the shot, Cyril reacts and starts shooting everywhere, killing everyone capable of piloting the shuttle.

4. Barry is back again, again

They are about to leave with Cyril navigating, when Barry arrives to the space station, ready to fight against Archer, he even offers his Arch-nemesis to use one of the exoskeletons from the movie Aliens.

Archer is very tempted to go outside and maybe finally kill Barry (which, of course won’t happen, he is an Android), but the rest of the team manages to convince him to stay with them and abandon Barry there, Cyril even destroys the robot’s ship.

Finally, Archer is showing restraint, and self-awareness for a moment, it seems like he learned something here, but he won’t stand for personal growth, so he sabotages the landing and everybody is hurt but him, as always.

5. The season

This season we had a ton of adventures, we traveled to a pirate island and space, the jungle and South Dakota. Archer lost a (possible) father, a wife (twice) and his idol who is dating his mom, he also got a spy car which he lost immediately and dealt against Canadian terrorists.

We had a ton of fun, the whole team got more involved, and we got a lot of backstory on Archer’s actions, but what’s next? Next season we will see Malory getting married, Ray walking again, rescuing Barry, saving both the Pope and a dog, and an adventure under the sea, can’t wait to talk about it!

Joke of the week:

Lana: Do you realize you are insane?
Archer: Well, he wouldn’t, by definition.

And that’s it for this episode, and the whole season, it was a thrilling ride, full of hilarious moments, Classic Archer at its best. What did you think of this season? Leave your comments below. And thank you for reading me, I love this show and, although sometimes it was hard finding a lot to talk about –the episodes are short, after all– I enjoyed every bit of it, see you next time!

Oh! And Season twelve started just yesterday, don’t miss it, I’m sure it’s going to be great!
